IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Adapting PILOTE model for water and yield management under direct seeding system: The case of corn and durum wheat in a Mediterranean context [PDF]

open access: yes
Crop models are useful tools for integrating knowledge of biophysical processes governing the plant-soil-atmosphere system. But few of them are easily usable for water and yield management especially under specific cropping systems such as direct seeding.

Design of a Rice Rope Laying Machine for Direct Sowing

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2017
The research and development of a rice rope laying machine (RRLM) provides new ideas for a design of a rice direct seeding machine, and solves existing problems encountered in direct seeding techniques currently in use.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Direct seeding: An appropriate technology for the regeneration of degraded Aboriginal lands

open access: yes, 1991
Vegetation management is not a new concept to many Aboriginal people. Traditional vegetation management practices such as patch burning required a thorough understanding of the ecology of vegetation communities, vegetation succession, and the associated ...

First direct seeding at 38 nm

open access: yes, 2012
The sFLASH project at DESY is an experiment to study direct seeding using a source based on the high-harmonic generation (HHG) process. In contrast to SASE, a seeded FEL exhibits greatly improved longitudinal coherence and higher shot-to-shot stability ...

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Weed Management by Rice Straw Mulching in Direct Seeded Lowland Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

open access: yesTropical Agricultural Research, 2011
Direct seeding of rice (Oryza sativa L.) induces the production of greater grain yields in water deficit areas. However, weeds pose a serious threat to sustainability of yield of direct-seeded rice.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...
