Analytical and Monte Carlo results for the surface-brightness diameter relationship in supernova remnants

open access: yes, 2012
The surface brightness diameter relationship for supernovae remnants (SNRs) is explained by adopting a model of direct conversion of the flux of kinetic energy into synchrotron luminosity.

Ductility Tuning via Cluster Network Characteristics of Porous Components

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Network optimization via cluster characteristics induced by interaction of stress concentration is proposed, demonstrating increased cluster size and dispersion in non‐uniform porous components. The optimized structures exhibit, for the first time, that enhanced ductility and damage progression is controllable through zigzag cluster network designed by

The Evolution of Laser‐Induced Damage Patterns in Polymer Stabilized Liquid Crystals: Insights From Morphological Characterization and Thermo‐Driven Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐domain PSLC architecture enables direct comparison of alignment‐dependent laser damage within a single device. Crack‐like and seal‐like morphologies emerge under different damage conditions, and their evolution is interpreted through quantitative image analysis and heat‐driven simulations.

Hydrodynamics and rheology of a dilute granular plane Couette flow [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
We simulate the plane Couette flow of a dilute granular gas using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo method. We calculate relevant hydrodynamic and rheological quantities and highlight the effects of driving shear rate and inelasticity on them.

Precision Monte Carlo Test of the Hartree-Fock Approximation for a trapped Bose Gas

open access: yes, 1998
We compare the semiclassical Hartree-Fock approximation for a trapped Bose gas to a direct Path Integral Quantum Monte Carlo simulation. The chosen parameters correspond to current Rb experiments. We observe corrections to the mean-field density profile.

Materials for Suppressed Triplet‐Polaron Quenching in Efficient and Long‐Lifetime Phosphorescent OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We performed a computational screening of phosphorescent emitters and charge transporters for OLEDs to identify combinations that minimize triplet‐polaron quenching, a major cause of efficiency loss and short operational lifetimes, especially in blue OLEDs. Our results reveal key design rules and highlight emitter‐transporter pairs that strongly reduce

Nonequilibrium diffusive gas dynamics: Poiseuille microflow

open access: yes, 2017
We test the recently developed hierarchy of diffusive moment closures for gas dynamics together with the near-wall viscosity scaling on the Poiseuille flow of argon and nitrogen in a one micrometer wide channel, and compare it against the corresponding ...

Flexible and High‐Performance Perovskite‐Polymer Composites for Dual X‐Ray and Proton Direct Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer–perovskite composite obtained by mechanochemical synthesis enables thick, tunable active layers for efficient absorption of highly penetrating ionizing radiation. Vertical‐electrode detectors achieve low X‐ray detection limits and high sensitivity direct 5 MeV proton sensing.

Direct simulation Monte Carlo method for gas flows in micro-channels with bends with added curvature

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
Gas flows in micro-channels are simulated using an open source Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) code dsmcFOAM for general application to rarefied gas flow written within the framework of the open source C++ toolbox called OpenFOAM.

Electron beam density measurements in shock waves in argon [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
An electron beam technique was used to measure density profiles of strong shock waves in argon with high accuracy. The experimental results are compared with the results of theoretical models.
