A Direct Measurement Method for the Uniaxial Tensile Strength of Rock
A universally applicable direct tension test method is proposed in this paper based on the concept of “compression-to-tension”. Using this method, one or two typical rocks were selected for each of the three types of rocks.

ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Design of an automated tension infiltrometer for unsaturated hydraulic conductivity measurement [PDF]
A tension infiltrometer for field use, where both water level changes measurement and tension settings could be automated, was built in-house. Differential pressure transducers were used to automate the water level measurement in the reservoir.

A tension approach to controlling the shape of cubic spline surfaces on FVS triangulations
We propose a parametric tensioned version of the FVS macro-element to control the shape of the composite surface and remove artificial oscillations, bumps and other undesired behaviour.

Direct determination of surface tension in the lung.
We have used the spreading behavior of small drops of several fluorocarbon fluids and silicone oil on air-liquid interfaces to measure the surface tension of lungs in situ. The test fluids were calibrated in a surface balance at 37 degrees on monolayers of dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine. At particular surface tensions characteristic of each fluid used,

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Study on property model for porous materials 3: mathematical deduction
Based on the "octahedral structure model" of three-dimensional reticulated porous materials, the mathematical deductions are introduced one by one for the mathematical relations of their basic physical and mechanical properties in this paper. The present

A technique of direct tension measurement of a strung fine wire [PDF]
We present a new technique of direct measurement of wire tensions in wire chambers. A specially designed circuit plucks the wire using the Lorentz force and measures the frequency of damped transverse oscillations of the wire. The technique avoids the usual time-consuming necessity of tuning circuit parameter to a resonance.

Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Direct and extended friendship effects on minority and majority children’s interethnic attitudes: A longitudinal study. [PDF]
Longitudinal direct and extended cross-ethnic friendship effects on out-group evaluations amongst German (majority status, N = 76) and Turkish (minority status, N = 73) children (age 7-11 yrs) in ethnically heterogeneous elementary schools were examined ...
