Deadlock Avoidance in Model Predictive Direct Torque Control

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2012
For medium-voltage ac drives, model predictive direct torque control (DTC) (MPDTC) shows excellent performance characteristics regarding the switching frequency and the harmonic distortion of the torque and the stator currents, outperforming classic control schemes such as DTC and field-oriented control. Aside from these advantages, the MPDTC algorithm

Direct torque control of induction motors

IEE Colloquium on Vector Control and Direct Torque Control of Induction Motors, 1995
A direct torque control system for a variable speed induction motor drive consists of two hysteresis comparators, a selection table, a flux and torque estimator, and a PID speed controller. With this control structure, the drive performance can be significantly improved when compared to field oriented control.

A new direct torque control strategy

IEE Colloquium on `Advances in Control Systems for Electric Drives', 1995
The paper investigates the performance of three-phase cage rotor induction motor control systems based on direct torque control. Direct torque control is examined and it is found that this scheme is less complex and gives better control characteristics than the vector control methods.

Direct Torque Controlled Induction Motor Drive with Reduced Torque Ripple

2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2006
Direct torque control (DTC) drive allows direct and independent control of flux linkage and electromagnetic torque by the selection of optimum inverter switching modes. But the possibility of generation of only six non-zero voltage vectors results in the production of ripples in the electromagnetic torque and stator flux linkages.

Direct torque control of AC machines

2019
The DTC technology has been steadily developed for induction motors initially and now in a mature stage where its adaptation in commercial products has been accepted by industry. The development focus is now toward adaptation of DTC into complex applications requiring special motor types and drive topologies.

Sensorless Vector and Direct Torque Control

1998
Abstract This is the first comprehensive book on sensor less high performance a.c. drives. It is essential reading for anyone interested in acquiring a solid background on sensor less torque-controlled drives. It presents a detailed and unified treatment of sensor less vector-controlled and direct-torque controlled drive systems.

Methods for direct torque control of induction machines

2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE), 2017
High performance drives with induction machines require use of vector control. The direct torque control and field oriented control are nowadays two most applied vector control methods. The main advantage of the method for direct torque control of induction machines is its simplicity and therefore its robustness.
