ABB: Direct torque control

Industrial Robot: An International Journal, 1995
Examines the development of a powerful AC variable speed drive technology that is reported to offer the best performance yet from an AC drive, allowing it to match and even better the performance of DC motor drives. The technology is called direct torque control [DTC] and uses motor flux and torque as primary control variables.

Predictive Direct Torque Control for the PM Synchronous Machine

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2004
The paper shows that a predictive digital control combined with the principle of the direct torque control leads to an excellent dynamic behavior of the permanent magnet excited synchronous machine and is a real alternative to the classical field orientated control.

A new torque controller for Direct Torque Controlled Induction Machine drives

2008 12th International Middle-East Power System Conference, 2008
Hysteresis band control is one of the simplest and most popular techniques used in direct torque control (DTC) of induction machine drives. However the conventional fixed band hysteresis control has a variable switching frequency which causes serious problems in DTC.

Direct Torque Control

2018
Abstract The fundamental principles of direct torque control (DTC) of permanent magnet synchronous (PMS) motors are presented in this chapter. The basic DTC system is then described. The operating limits of PMS machines under DTC are presented in terms of current limit, voltage limit, and flux linkage limit.

Multilevel Torque Hysteresis-Band Based Direct-Torque Control Strategy for a Three-Level Open-End Winding Induction Motor Drive for Electric Vehicle Applications

IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Power Electronics, 2019
The number of levels present in the torque-hysteresis controller influence the performance of the direct torque controlled (DTC) induction motor drives.

Direct digital design of computed torque controllers

Journal of Robotic Systems, 1994
AbstractDirect digital design of computed torque controllers for a robot manipulator is discussed in this article. A simple discrete‐time model of the robot manipulator obtained by Euler's method is used for the design. Taking account of computation delay in the digital processor, we propose predictor‐based designs of the PD and PID type controllers ...

Methods for direct torque control of induction machines

2017 19th International Conference on Electrical Drives and Power Electronics (EDPE), 2017
High performance drives with induction machines require use of vector control. The direct torque control and field oriented control are nowadays two most applied vector control methods. The main advantage of the method for direct torque control of induction machines is its simplicity and therefore its robustness.
