Comparative analysis of direct torque control and DTC based on sliding mode control for PMSM drive

2017 29th Chinese Control And Decision Conference (CCDC), 2017
This paper firstly introduces the mathematical equations of PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor), an overview of direct torque control (DTC) and a DTC based on sliding mode control for PMSM, and then builds PMSM control system simulation models with above two methods in MATLAB /Simulink environment.

Novel direct torque control (DTC) scheme with fuzzy adaptive torque-ripple reduction

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2003
Investigations were carried out on a novel direct torque control system, which not only reduces the undesirable torque ripple by up to 98% by means of introducing a modulation between the selected active state and a zero state, but also maintains constant switching frequency.

The next generation motor control method, DTC direct torque control

Proceedings of International Conference on Power Electronics, Drives and Energy Systems for Industrial Growth, 2002
Direct torque control (DTC) is the latest AC motor control method developed by ABB. ACS600 is the first application utilising DTC. DTC is a control method that embeds a motor and inverter together and controls them together in an optimal manner. In DTC, all switch changes are based directly on the electromagnetic state of the motor.

The Next Generation Motor Control Method: Direct Torque Control (DTC)

EPE Journal, 1995
AbstractDirect Torque Control (DTC) is the latest AC motor control method developed by ABB, In Direct Torque Control all switch changes are based directly on the electromagnetic state of the motor. Optimum switching is determined for every control cycle on a time level of 25 microseconds.

Torque Ripple Minimization for Induction Motor Drives with Direct Torque Control

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2004
Direct torque control (DTC) schemes can produce quick and robust responses, but they usually behave like hysteresis controllers. Consequently there are similar problems like non constant switching frequencies and high torque ripple especially when operation conditions result in low switching frequencies.

A Modified Direct Torque Control (DTC) of Reluctance Synchronous Motor Sensorless Drive

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 2000
This paper presents a direct torque and flux sensorless control with (DTC) space vector modulation (SVM) for reluctance synchronous motor (RSM) drive. The flux, torque and speed estimators, hardware implementation and test results with DTC and DTC-SVM are presented and discussed.

A novel direct torque control (DTC) method for five-phase induction machines

APEC 2000. Fifteenth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (Cat. No.00CH37058), 2002
In this paper, a direct torque control (DTC) scheme of a five-phase induction motor is developed. A novel DTC scheme is proposed, where fast torque response with low ripple in the stator PM and torque of five-phase induction motor can be achieved. In comparison with DTC for three phase induction motor, the five-phase DTC system has thirty-two space ...

A hybrid system based approach to Direct Torque Control (DTC) of induction motors

18th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, MED'10, 2010
In this paper, we study the Direct Torque Control (DTC) of an Induction Motor coupled to an Inverter (Inv-IM). DTC permits to control directly the stator flux and the torque by selecting the appropriate inverter state. DTC has been introduced because it presents several advantages in comparison to other techniques such as voltage/frequency control ...

A review on Direct Torque Control (DTC) of induction motor: With applications of fuzzy

2016 International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, and Optimization Techniques (ICEEOT), 2016
At present, induction motors are the dominant drives in various industries. It is quite cumbersome to control an induction motor (IM) because of its poor dynamic response in comparison to the DC motor drives. The central theme of Vector Control (VC) is to decouple the stator current of the IM into two orthogonal components and is to control these two ...

Sensorless sliding mode direct torque control (DTC) of induction motor

Proceedings of the IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2005. ISIE 2005., 2005
A new approach to sensorless field oriented induction motor (IM) drive with a single loop control, which may correspond to DTC without a switching table, is presented. The proposed algorithm, presented in previous work by the author, is based on discrete-time sliding mode (SM) control theory and obtained by using two identical sliding surfaces with ...
