Development of Compulsory Rural Service Directed Medical Student Free Training Project at Home and Abroad [PDF]
Background Our state policy of free training of compulsory rural service oriented medical students (abbreviated as rural service orientation project) starts with the construction of a team of primary medical health talents and makes an excellent ...

Informative Advertising in Directed Search [PDF]
We consider a directed search environment where capacity constrained sellers reach uncoordinated buyers through costly advertising while buyers observed all prices probabilistically. We show that: (i) the equilibrium advertising intensity has an inverted U-shape in market tightness, (ii) the equilibrium advertising intensity is higher under an auction ...

Asymmetric Information and Credit Rationing in a Model of Search
This paper presents a competitive search model focusing on the impact of asymmetric information on credit markets. We show that limited entry by lenders results in endogenous credit rationing, which, in turn, plays a key role in managing adverse ...

Computationally Optimizing the Directed Evolution of Proteins [PDF]
Directed evolution has proven a successful strategy for protein engineering. To accelerate the discovery process, we have developed several computational methods to optimize the mutant libraries by targeting specific residues for mutagenesis, and ...

Exploratory search during directed navigation in C. elegans and Drosophila larva
Many organisms—from bacteria to nematodes to insect larvae—navigate their environments by biasing random movements. In these organisms, navigation in isotropic environments can be characterized as an essentially diffusive and undirected process.

Price Dispersion with Directed Search [PDF]
We model a market where identical buyers direct their search to identical capacity-constrained sellers. Sellers cannot fully commit to the list price so strategic bargaining may determine the sale price. We study search and pricing behavior in symmetric equilibrium.

Finding Direction in the Search for Selection [PDF]
Tests for positive selection have mostly been developed to look for diversifying selection where change away from the current amino acid is often favorable. However, in many cases we are interested in directional selection where there is a shift toward specific amino acids, resulting in increased fitness in the species.

How Does Awareness Modulate Goal-Directed and Stimulus-Driven Shifts of Attention Triggered by Value Learning? [PDF]
In order to behave adaptively, attention can be directed in space either voluntarily (i.e., endogenously) according to strategic goals, or involuntarily (i.e., exogenously) through reflexive capture by salient or novel events.

Direct search methods: then and now
The authors discuss direct search methods for unconstrained optimization. They discuss how direct search methods are characterized by the absence of the construction of a model of the objective. The article is informative and well-written. It makes a rather pleasant introduction to a very active survey area.

Directed Search in the Housing Market [PDF]
In this paper, we present a directed search model of the housing market. The pricing mechanism we analyze reflects the way houses are bought and sold in the United States. Our model is consistent with the observation that houses are sometimes sold above, sometimes below, and sometimes at the asking price. We consider two versions of our model.
