Direction-of-arrival methods (DOA) and time difference of arrival (TDOA) position location technique
Proceedings of the Twenty-Second National Radio Science Conference, 2005. NRSC 2005., 2005This paper provides a detailed overview of the various methods for estimation of direction-of-arrival (also called angle-of-arrival) of a radio signal using an antenna array. The array-based directional-of-arrival (DOA) estimation techniques considered here are broadly divided into two different types: conventional techniques, and subspace based ...

Improved maximum likelihood spectrum for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation
ICASSP-88., International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003A variation of J. Capon's (1969) maximum-likelihood (ML) spectral estimation algorithm is described for calculating direction of arrival using a short linear array. The proposed modification involves altering the computed covariance spectral matrix by setting its lowest eigen value to a small, positive constant lambda '(min).

Direction of arrival (DOA) parameter estimation with the SAGE algorithm
Signal Processing, 2004In this study, we investigate the estimation of the relative delay, the azimuth and elevation angle and the complex amplitude of a known received signal with the space alternating generalised expectation (SAGE) maximisation algorithm. This optimisation algorithm is used to replace the high-dimensional optimisation procedure, necessary to compute the ...

Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) Estimation based on Spacetime-Modulated Metasurface
2019 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and USNC-URSI Radio Science Meeting, 2019We introduce the concept of DOA estimation based on spacetime-modulated 2D-patch-array metasurface. Such a system, compared to conventional DOA estimators, offers the key advantage of requiring only one receiving antenna, with the metasurface placed in front of it.

DOA(Direction of Arrival) with array antennas based on MOM
2010 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2010It's an important issue that estimation of signal direction for radar or communication system. And it was researched for military and commercial. Generally, it's a method that estimate to direction of signal by use each signal of array sensors. It called to DOA(Direction Of Arrival). For basically, there are Beamforming, Capon, Linear-prediction method.

Direction of arrival (DOA) estimation system using 3D printed Luneburg lens
2016 IEEE/ACES International Conference on Wireless Information Technology and Systems (ICWITS) and Applied Computational Electromagnetics (ACES), 2016A novel direction of arrival (DOA) estimation system based on a broadband 3D printed Luneburg lens is reported in this paper. Using the property of a Luneburg lens that the focus point of an incident plane wave is at the opposite side on the surface of the lens, 36 diode detectors with 10 degree spacing are mounted around the surface of a 3D printed ...

Source number estimation using eigenspace in direction of arrival (DOA) estimate
OCEANS 2009-EUROPE, 2009A source number estimation using eigenspace is presented. It projects estimated covariance matrix of array signal into signal eigen subspace and noise eigen subspace respectively. Using the orthogonality between signal eigen subspace and noise eigen subspace, it is easy to differentiate the contribution of signal and noise by using the criterion value,

A SYSTOLIC ARCHITECTURE FOR CAPON'S DIRECTIONS-OF-ARRIVAL (DOA) ESTIMATION METHOD
Parallel Algorithms and Applications, 1993In this paper, a systolic array architecture is designed for the parallel implementation of Capon's direction-of-arrival estimation method in array signal processing. The architecture uses the QR decomposition on the data matrix to compute Capon's angular spectrum. The systolic array employs N(N + l)/2 + N processing elements (PEs).

Direction of Arrival (DOA) Estimation using Electrically Small Resonant Dipole Antennas
2006 IEEE Conference on Radar, 2006In this paper we present a methodology for the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation using the induced voltages that are measured at the feed points of electrically small resonant dipole antenna arrays illuminated by the signal of interest. The matrix pencil method is applied directly to the induced voltages to estimate the DOA of the various signals ...
