Gravity and magnetism of southern Africa in relation to Craton structures and belts

open access: yesHeliyon
The general tectonic structural architecture of southern Africa is an ensemble comprised of Kalahari Craton, a vast range of mosaics of the best-preserved geological Belts, and exposed crustal blocks.

Electrified Damage in Motion Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The electrified damage in motion systems is a fundamental framework presenting the degradation pathway arising from the coupling of electrical energy transport with mechanical contact and interfacial chemistry. The framework positions electrified damage as a distinct degradation regime with unique characteristic surface morphologies and failures of ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Estimating turbulent heat flux by artificial intelligent models in comparison with diffusion hypothesis-based models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
Accurately predicting turbulent heat flux remains a critical challenge in fluid dynamics, especially for complex flows like film cooling. Traditional models, such as the Gradient Diffusion Hypothesis (GDH), the Generalized Gradient Diffusion Hypothesis ...

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Evaluation of importance of lateral acceleration derivatives in extraction of lateral-directional derivatives at high angles of attack

open access: yes, 1974
A theoretical investigation was conducted to determine the importance of the lateral acceleration (beta) derivatives in the extraction of lateral-directional stability derivatives for swept wing airplanes at high angles of attack.

A Combined Quasi-Newton-Type Method Using 4th-Order Directional Derivatives for Solving Degenerate Problems of Unconstrained Optimization

open access: yesКібернетика та комп'ютерні технології
Introduction. Methods of unconstrained optimization play a significant role in machine learning [1–6]. When solving practical problems in machine learning, such as tuning nonlinear regression models, the extremum point of the chosen optimality criterion ...

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Convex Operators in Vector Optimization: Directional Derivatives and the Cone of Decrease Directions

open access: yes, 2007
The paper is devoted to the investigation of directional derivatives and the cone of decrease directions for convex operators on Banach spaces. We prove a condition for the existence of directional derivatives which does not assume regularity of the ...

Modeling of unsteady aerodynamic loads

open access: yes, 2011
Time-accurate solutions of the Euler or Navier-Stokes equations are still nowadays a computationally expensive approach for applications where a magnitude of parameters has to be investigated. This work focuses on flight dynamics-related studies.
