A characterization of $C^{1,1}$ functions via lower directional derivatives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
summary:The notion of $\tilde {\ell }$-stability is defined using the lower Dini directional derivatives and was introduced by the authors in their previous papers. In this paper we prove that the class of $\tilde {\ell }$-stable functions coincides with

Comparison of corneal epitheliotrophic capacities among human platelet lysates and other blood derivatives.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
PurposeTo evaluate the corneal epitheliotropic abilities of two commercialized human platelet lysates (HPLs) and to compare the results with other blood derivatives, including human peripheral serum (HPS) and bovine fetal serum (FBS).MethodsIn vitro ...

Maximal directional derivatives in Laakso space

open access: yesCommunications in Contemporary Mathematics
We investigate the connection between maximal directional derivatives and differentiability for Lipschitz functions defined on Laakso space. We show that maximality of a directional derivative for a Lipschitz function implies differentiability only for a [Formula: see text]-porous set of points.

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Convex Operators in Vector Optimization: Directional Derivatives and the Cone of Decrease Directions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The paper is devoted to the investigation of directional derivatives and the cone of decrease directions for convex operators on Banach spaces. We prove a condition for the existence of directional derivatives which does not assume regularity of the ...

A Finite Point Method Based on Directional Derivatives for Diffusion Equation

open access: yes, 2011
This paper presents a finite point method based on directional derivatives for diffusion equation on 2D scattered points. To discretize the diffusion operator at a given point, a six-point stencil is derived by employing explicit numerical formulae of ...

Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

FACE RECOGNITION BASED ON LOCAL DERIVATIVE TETRA PATTERN

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2017
This paper proposes a new face recognition algorithm called local derivative tetra pattern (LDTrP). The new technique LDTrP is used to alleviate the face recognition rate under real-time challenges. Local derivative pattern (LDP) is a directional feature
