bspmma: An R Package for Bayesian Semiparametric Models for Meta-Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2012
We introduce an R package, bspmma, which implements a Dirichlet-based random effects model specific to meta-analysis. In meta-analysis, when combining effect estimates from several heterogeneous studies, it is common to use a random-effects model.

A Bicompositional Dirichlet Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The Simplex S^D is the sample space of a D-part composition. There are only a few distributions defined on the Simplex and even fewer defined on the Cartesian product S^D x S^D. Based on the Dirichlet distribution, defined on S^D, we propose a new bicompositional Dirichlet distribution defined on S^D x S^D, and examine some of its properties, such as ...

Delineating gender/sex‐related studies through bibliometric analysis

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract The multidisciplinary and socially grounded nature of Women's/Gender/Feminist Studies poses unique challenges for bibliometric analysis, as it extends beyond conventional disciplinary boundaries. This paper makes three key contributions: (1) We propose a novel retrieval method for constructing a corpus of scholarly documents in research areas ...

Numerical and Experimental Assessment of Oxygen Distribution in a Perfusion Bioreactor to Mimic the Osteochondral Niche

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oxygen supply is a critical parameter in 3D cell cultivation using bioreactors. Since bioreactor designs often prioritise practical constraints, understanding the oxygen supply dynamics of the media is crucial for achieving either uniform or spatially controlled oxygen delivery.

Spatial metrics in fire ecology: seeking consistency amidst complexity

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Technological advances, including remote sensing, have led to a proliferation of metrics used in ecological studies to examine spatial patterns of fire regimes and their ecological effects. Researchers can use many different metrics to analyse spatial variation in both fire events and resulting fire regimes, including fire size, shape ...

Sustainability Challenges to the Steel Industry in a Developing Country: Sanctions and Security Issues at the Forefront

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article contributes to sustainability research by investigating the complex, geopolitically induced challenges faced by industrial supply chains under international sanctions. Using Iran's steel industry as a case, it examines sustainability barriers through the lens of stakeholder theory. A mixed methods approach was employed.
