Disappearance of integer quantum Hall effect

open access: yes, 1996
The disappearance of integer quantum Hall effect (IQHE) at strong disorder and weak magnetic field is studied in a lattice model. A generic sequence by which the IQHE plateaus disappear is revealed: higher IQHE plateaus always vanish earlier than lower ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Absence and disappearance in law

open access: yesOñati Socio-Legal Series, 2018
Forced disappearance is the consequence of illegal and clandestine practices committed by out of control punitive powers, but social disappearance is also the effect of public policies where the law intervenes.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Missing Children in Italy from 2000 to 2020: A Review of the Phenomenon Reported by Newspapers

open access: yesSocial Sciences, 2022
The disappearance of children has become a public social issue that has captured the attention of many in the last two decades, especially because there is not a worldwide consensus on the definition of “missing child”.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Search for the Invisible Decay of Neutrons with KamLAND [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The Kamioka Liquid scintillator Anti-Neutrino Detector is used in a search for single neutron or two-neutron intranuclear disappearance that would produce holes in the s-shell energy level of ^(12)C nuclei.
