SUSCEPTIBILITY TESTING WITH DISC DIFFUSION FOR NEW CEPHALOSPORINS: PRE‐DIFFUSION REVISITED

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Series B: Microbiology, 1986
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of 20‐hour pre‐diffusion, i.e. placing the antibiotic‐containing discs on the agar for 20 hours prior to inoculation, as compared to direct diffusion, i.e. placing the discs on the agar immediately after inoculation, for the newer 3.

Diffusion instability in a bi-modal disc

International Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1984
ABSTRACTA simplified model of radial diffusion in a particle disc with a bi-modal size distribution is presented. The large particle component excites the small particles’ dispersion velocity via gravitational scattering. The resulting small particle viscous stress goes through a maximum near τ ~ √3 Such a stress profile promotes the development of ...

Intervertebral Disc Nutrition

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1986
Nutrient diffusion across the vertebral endplate can occur by convection (bulk flow) or diffusion. Previous studies, using animal models, suggested diffusion as the primary mechanism of small-solute transport but did not adequately determine the contribution of bulk flow to total nutrient transport.

Temocillin disc diffusion susceptibility testing by EUCAST methodology

Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 2013
Temocillin is a semi-synthetic b-lactam antibiotic which is the 6-a-methoxy derivative of ticarcillin. It is a narrow-spectrum agent and its activity is almost exclusively limited to the Enterobacteriaceae—it is not effective against Gram-positive organisms, anaerobes or Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Disc diffusion test in the identification of Candida species

Mycoses, 2000
A total of 448 clinical isolates and seven reference strains of Candida species were tested for their susceptibility to a group of dyes and chemicals. All strains were also identified by conventional methods. The chemicals/dyes used in the disc diffusion tests were brilliant green, janus green, cycloheximide, fast green, rhodamine 6 G, ethidium bromide

The detection of enzyme a of yersinia enterocolitica by a disc diffusion method

Pathology, 1999
Yersinia enterocolitica has been described as expressing two types of chromosomal beta-lactamase, the broad spectrum enzyme A and the inducible cephalosporinase enzyme B. Nevertheless, not all Y. enterocolitica strains express both enzyme A and enzyme B; Y.

Diffusion of Disc Golf Courses in the United States

Geographical Review, 2013
Over the past several decades, geographers have examined the expansion of golf facilities throughout the United States (Adams and Rooney 1985, 1989; Rooney and Pillsbury 1992; Rooney 1993; Napton and Laingen 2008). These studies have described the changing spatial patterns of golf courses over time and the evolution of golf regions.

Fluorescein diffusion in the human optic disc.

Investigative ophthalmology, 1975
The characteristics of the transcapillary transfer of fluorescein dye in the optic disc of healthy individuals has been studied. A diffusible fluorescein dye and a nondiffusible reference substance, indocyanine green (ICG), which was assumed to remain in the capillaries, were injected into the circulatory system.

A Diffusion Disc Susceptibility Test for 5-Fluorocytosine

1976
A diffusion disc test for testing with 5-Fluorocytosine (5-FC) was described. A commercial 1 ug and an experimental 10 ug disc were evaluated using Yeast Morphology Agar supplemented with 2.5 ug/ml of thiamine at pH 5.0. Zones of inhibition were correlated with MIC values obtained with a modification of the ICS agar dilution procedure using the same ...
