Determining the discharge coefficient of a spool valve
Proceedings of the 2000 American Control Conference. ACC (IEEE Cat. No.00CH36334), 2000Various mathematical models and experimental methods have been developed for finding the effective orifice area in spool valves. The orifice equation for turbulent flow is often applied to spool valves to determine the volumetric flow rate of the fluid passing through the spool valve.

Discharge coefficient and loss coefficient
2022The article deals with natural ventilation in air vents of the chimney type by applying the principle of balance of mechanical energy. The connection between the concept of discharge coefficient and the loss coefficient of duct flow is introduced. Control volume treatments have important roles. Two simple application examples are given.

Bed Load Discharge Coefficient
Journal of the Hydraulics Division, 1981Using dimensional analysis, the bed-load discharge coefficient for the case of two-dimensional flow over dunes is expressed in terms of bed-form geometry and the sand size of the bed material. Experiments are conducted in a rectangular flume using artifical dunes and a flow visualization method to measure the flow separation length from which the bed ...

The Effect of Rotation of Discharge Hole on the Discharge Coefficient and Pressure Coefficient
Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers B, 2003Pressure coefficient in rotating discharge hole was measured to gain insight into the influence of rotation to the discharge characteristics of rotating discharge hole. Pressure measurements were done by the telemetry system that had been developed by the authors.

Discharge Coefficient for Siphon Spillways
Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 2013AbstractThe study deals with the discharge coefficient for siphon spillways based on the results of experimental methods and numerical simulations. Siphon spillways are used as the outlet in reservoirs to control the incoming flood flows. A scaled plexiglass model of a siphon was fabricated and tested in the laboratory flume to determine the siphon ...

Discharge Coefficients of Fire Nozzles
Journal of Basic Engineering, 1966The most efficient nozzle is generally considered to be that for which the discharge coefficient is nearest unity. Forms and dimensions of the nozzles being equal, the greater the discharge coefficient, the less the jet turbulence becomes. The inefficiency of fire streams is directly attributable to the inital turbulence of the jet and this turbulence ...

Coefficients of Discharge at the Aperatures of Engines
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1995<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper reports on the experimental evaluation of certain aspects concerning the mathematical modelling of pressure wave propagation in engine ducting. A particular aspect is the coefficient of discharge of the various ports, valves or apertures of the ducting connected to the cylinder of an engine or to the ...
