Determining an optimal run-off coefficient method for estimating peak discharge in the Lesti River catchment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development
The run-off coefficients provide vital hydrological data used for river discharge forecasts and flood risk management. Selecting an appropriate method to determine this coefficient is essential for accurately estimating peak discharge.

Setup‐Optimized Sequencing in Job Shops: Modeling Workstation Productivity and Lateness Behavior

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Setup‐optimized sequencing in job‐shop production creates a trade‐off between productivity improvement and schedule reliability. A WIP‐explicit modeling framework links sequencing‐induced productivity gains and lateness dispersion through the production operating curve.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Discharge Coefficient Measurements for Flow Through Compound-Angle Conical Holes with Cross-Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2004
Diffusion-shaped film holes with compound angles are currently being investigated for high temperature gas turbine airfoil film cooling. An accurate prediction of the coolant blowing rate through these film holes is essential in determining the film ...

Optimization of the Production of Rubber Compounds Using Mathematical Models

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Rubber compounds were mixed in a batch internal mixer, and symbolic regression was used to derive mathematical models linking recipe and process parameters to ram path, torque, and mixing quality (incorporation, dispersion, distribution). Subsequent optimization with evolutionary algorithms identified operating conditions that reduce specific energy ...

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.
