Estimating River Discharge With Swath Altimetry: A Proof of Concept Using AirSWOT Observations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
The forthcoming Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite mission will provide global measurements of the free surface of large rivers, providing new opportunities for remote sensing‐derived estimates of river discharge in gaged and ungaged ...

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Siting Considerations for Satellite Observation of River Discharge

open access: yesWater Resources Research
With growing global capability for satellite measurement of river discharge (flow) comes a need to understand and reduce error in satellite‐based discharge measurements. Satellite‐based discharge estimates are based on measurements of water surface width,

How Does the Unique Space‐Time Sampling of the SWOT Mission Influence River Discharge Series Characteristics?

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite mission will, for the first time, provide simultaneous, high‐resolution measurements of water surface elevation and extent.

Run-off modelling in an Arctic unglaciated catchment (Fuglebekken, Spitsbergen)

open access: yesAnnals of Glaciology, 2017
The goal of this study is to test applicability of the conceptual catchment run-off HBV model to simulate discharge in small non-glaciated Arctic catchment. Within two ablation seasons, 2014 and 2015, in the Fuglebekken catchment (Spitsbergen, Svalbard),

Technical Note: How image processing facilitates the rising bubble technique for discharge measurement [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2012
In this article, we rehabilitate the integrating rising bubble technique as an effective means of obtaining discharge measurements. Since Sargent (1981, 1982a), the technique has not been applied widely, mainly as a result of practical difficulties.

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

MODELING OF ONE DIMENSIONAL FLOW OVER SEMICIRCLE CRESTED WEIR PROFILE USING (HEC-RAS) PROGRAM

open access: yesDiyala Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2017
A semicircle crest profile extending across full width of laboratory channel (suppressed) provides measurements of discharge – head under free flow condition.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.
