POTENTIALLY UNSTABLE SLOPE ABOVE ORE PROCESSING PLANT IN THE "OČURA" DOLOMITE QUARRY (LEPOGLAVA, NORTH CROATIA)

open access: yesRudarsko-geološko-naftni Zbornik, 1993
The complex engineering investigation, in the nearest surroun-dig of the conditionally stable high slope, close to ore processing facilities in the dolomite quarry »Očura« near Lepoglava (North Croatia), was carried out. Studying the tectonic features of

Revealing the Organization of Complex Adaptive Systems through Multivariate Time Series Modeling

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2011
Revealing the adaptive responses of ecological, social, and economic systems to a transforming biosphere is crucial for understanding system resilience and preventing collapse.

Undulated Shock Surface Formed After a Shock–Discontinuity Interaction

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
Shock ripples and shock–discontinuity interactions (SDIs) have long been proposed to explain the frequent occurrence of high‐speed jets (HSJs) in the magnetosheath; however, there is no direct observational evidence for either of them occurring near a ...

Embedded discontinuities for softening solids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Additional, discontinuous functions are added to the displacement field of standard finite elements in order to capture highly localised zones of intense straining.

Warped product approach to universe with non-smooth scale factor

open access: yes, 2003
In the framework of Lorentzian warped products, we study the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological model to investigate non-smooth curvatures associated with multiple discontinuities involved in the evolution of the universe.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

DISCONTINUITY OF KNOWLEGDE

open access: yesBeykent Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi, 2017
M. Foucault and T. Kuhn concerned with the discontinuity of discourse in the sciences and social disciplines. In 1960s Kuhn stated that the natural science reflects basically a sequence of paradigm changes. In 1970s Foucault claimed a form of discourse about the growth of scientific knowledge in a range of human and medical sciences.

Newtonian Counterparts of Spin 2 Massless Discontinuities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Massive spin 2 theories in flat or cosmological ($\Lambda \ne 0$) backgrounds are subject to discontinuities as the masses tend to zero. We show and explain physically why their Newtonian limits do not inherit this behaviour.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
