Multistability and instability of neural networks with discontinuous nonmonotonic piecewise linear activation functions

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we discuss the coexistence and dynamical behaviors of multiple equilibrium points for recurrent neural networks with a class of discontinuous nonmonotonic piecewise linear activation functions. It is proved that under some conditions, such

Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

Fixed-Time Aperiodic Intermittent Control for Quasi-Bipartite Synchronization of Competitive Neural Networks

open access: yesEntropy
This paper concerns a class of coupled competitive neural networks, subject to disturbance and discontinuous activation functions. To realize the fixed-time quasi-bipartite synchronization, an aperiodic intermittent controller is initially designed ...

Integration of OpenCV‐Based Microscopic Adhesive Volume Measurement Into a Pyiron Workflow for Automated Data Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Residual adhesive after electrode loading in adhesive‐assisted resistance spot welding is quantified through a traceable experimental‐to‐digital workflow. Chromatic confocal topography provides calibrated surface‐height data, while OpenCV detects the electrode imprint and integrates adhesive height into comparable volume metrics.

Finite-time synchronization of Markovian neural networks with proportional delays and discontinuous activations

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2018
In this paper, finite-time synchronization of neural networks (NNs) with discontinuous activation functions (DAFs), Markovian switching, and proportional delays is studied in the framework of Filippov solution.

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

An answer to a question of herings et al [PDF]

open access: yes
One answers to an open question of Herings et al. (2008), by proving that their fixed point theorem for discontinuous functions works for mappings defined on convex compact subset of $\R^n$, and not only polytopes. This fixed point theorem can be applied

Mittag-Leffler Synchronization in Finite Time for Uncertain Fractional-Order Multi-Delayed Memristive Neural Networks with Time-Varying Perturbations via Information Feedback

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
To construct a nonlinear fractional-order neural network reflecting the complex environment of the real world, this paper considers the common factors such as uncertainties, perturbations, and delays that affect the stability of the network system.

Discontinuous Galerkin Finite Element Approximation of Nonlinear Second-Order Elliptic and Hyperbolic Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We develop the convergence analysis of discontinuous Galerkin finite element approximations to second-order quasilinear elliptic and hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations of the form, respectively, $-\sum_{\alpha=1}^d \partial_{x_\alpha ...
