Capulet and Slingshot share overlapping functions during Drosophila eye morphogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science, 2012
Background CAP/Capulet (Capt), Slingshot (Ssh) and Cofilin/Twinstar (Tsr) are actin-binding proteins that restrict actin polymerization. Previously, it was shown that low resolution analyses of loss-of-function mutations in capt, ssh and tsr all show ...

Chemical State Detection and Charge Transfer in Complex Oxide Heterostructures via In Situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ Auger Electron Spectroscopy resolves oxidation states with high fidelity during the pulsed laser deposition of multivalent perovskite manganate and vanadate heterostructures. The chemical‐state signature is carried by the valence‐electron population of the transition‐metal cation, read out through the relative intensities of Auger fine ...

Some fixed point theorems for discontinuous mappings [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides a fixed point theorem à la Schauder, where the mappings considered are possibly discontinuous. Our main result generalizes and unifies several well-known results.Schauder fixed point theorem, Brouwer fixed point theorem, discontinuity.

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

Prescribed finite-time stabilization of fuzzy neural networks with time-varying controller

open access: yesJournal of Automation and Intelligence
This paper investigates the exponential and prescribed finite-time stabilization with time-varying controller. First, the constraints of boundedness and differentiability on time delays are simultaneously relaxed, the Lipschitz condition for activation ...

Deep Neural Networks with Multistate Activation Functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We propose multistate activation functions (MSAFs) for deep neural networks (DNNs). These MSAFs are new kinds of activation functions which are capable of representing more than two states, including the N-order MSAFs and the symmetrical MSAF.

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

Preassigned-Time Projective Lag Synchronization of Octonion-Valued BAM Neural Networks via Exponential Quantized Event-Triggered Control

open access: yesMathematics
This study addresses the preassigned-time (PDT) projective lag synchronization of octonion-valued BAM neural networks (OV-BAMNNs) through exponential quantized event-triggered control (ETC). First, an OV-BAMNN model incorporating discontinuous activation

Monolithic Oxidation Enables Ultrathin Vertically Graded Tantalum Oxide for Low‐Voltage, Low‐Variability Memristive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Monolithic UV‐ozone oxidation of Ta forms an ultrathin Ta2O5/TaOx bilayer enabling resistive switching with a vertical defect gradient. A stoichiometric surface layer over an oxygen‐deficient sublayer promotes localized filament nucleation near the top interface, enabling low‐voltage operation, and reduced cycle‐to‐cycle variability.

Resonances of the SD oscillator due to the discontinuous phase

open access: yes, 2011
Resonance phenomena of a harmonically excited system with mul-tiple potential well play an important role in nonlinear dynamics research. In this paper, we investigate the resonant behaviours of a discontinuous dynamical system with double well potential ...
