Uniformly Convergent Scheme for Singularly Perturbed Space Delay Parabolic Differential Equation with Discontinuous Convection Coefficient and Source Term

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
A singularly perturbed delay parabolic problem of convection-diffusion type with a discontinuous convection coefficient and source term is examined. In the problem, strong interior layers and weak boundary layers are exhibited due to a large delay in the

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Influence of Si Content and Milling Duration on the Microstructure and Mechanical–Tribological Properties of AlCoCrFeNiSi High‐Entropy Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Si‐doped AlCoCrFeNi high‐entropy alloys are synthesized by mechanical alloying to reveal the effect of Si content and milling time on phase evolution, microstructural refinement, and tribological behavior. A transition from FCC to BCC structure, significant grain refinement, and enhanced hardness and wear resistance are achieved, with the 4 at% Si ...

Diffraction coefficients for a discontinuity in curvature

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1971
A particular choice of model of a surface displaying a discontinuity in curvature permits a high-frequency asymptotic development of the surface field when a plane electromagnetic wave is incident. The diffraction coefficients are deduced from this, and the results differ significantly from the physical-optics estimates.

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Embedded Trefftz discontinuous Galerkin methods

open access: yes, 2023
In Trefftz discontinuous Galerkin methods a partial differential equation is discretized using discontinuous shape functions that are chosen to be elementwise in the kernel of the corresponding differential operator.
