A comparison of losses in small (<1 kW) drives using sine and space vector pulse width modulation schemes

open access: yes, 2005
this paper quantifies effects of using three different pulse width modulation (PWM) schemes on the losses in the inverter and induction motor of a 1 kW drive. Direct measurements of losses have been made with a calorimeter.

Posterior distribution for the pulse width modulation of a square wave conditional on digital measurements of its on-off components [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We derive an exact formulation of the posterior density and distribution of the pulse width modulation of a square wave, produced by an electronic sensor monitored by digital counts of a vibrating crystal.

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 40, Issue 6, Page 1196-1220, June 2026.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 44, 1 June 2026.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 49, 18 June 2026.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

A Circuit-Level Decoupling Principle Based Discontinuous Pulse Width Modulation Strategy for Three Level Neutral-Point-Clamped Inverter

open access: yes, 2014
Multilevel inverter technology has emerged recently as a very important alternative in the area of medium-voltage (2.3, 3.3, 4.16, and 6.9 kv) energy control. The three level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter is the most extensively applied multilevel
