A carrier pulse width modulation for asymmetric three-level NPC inverter

open access: yes
The three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) inverters are widely used in practice. One of nowadays research trends of multilevel inverter topologies has been reduction of switch number.

Increased Endurance of Nonvolatile Photonics Enabled by Nanostructured Phase‐Change Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
Tapered and segmented islands of the phase‐change material (PCM) antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) integrated on silicon microring resonators enable ultra‐low‐loss, high‐endurance, non‐volatile photonic tuning. The nanostructured PCM design suppresses interfacial scattering and thermal stress, achieving record endurance over 100 million electrical switching ...

Pulse Width Modulated Control of Robotic Manipulators

open access: yes, 1990
In this paper we propose a practical discontinuous feedback control scheme for the regulation of joint positions of robotic manipulators. A robust on-off switching control strategy based on a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) feedback scheme is proposed for ...

Topological Point Defects in SmC* Liquid Crystals Under Mechanical Disturbance

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 11, 9 June 2026.
Tangetial air jet shear inducess island formation and nucleates topological point defects in uniform SmC films. Island bounded by edge dislocation loops shrink and transform into isolated point defects under continued shear. Mechanical perturbatio provides a controllable route for defect engineering in smectric liquid crystal thin films.

M3D‐DPWM strategy for three‐phase four‐leg inverter with higher harmonic suppression capability

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
Three‐phase four‐leg inverters are widely used in power systems due to their inherent ability to handle unbalanced loads. However, with conventional 3D space vector pulse width modulation (3D‐SVPWM), high harmonics of large amplitude exist in the output ...

Improving capacitor voltage ripples and power losses of modular multilevel converters through discontinuous modulation

open access: yes, 2013
The voltage ripple of the capacitors of the modular multilevel converter (MMC) increases when the converter output frequency decreases. This occurs in motor drive applications at low motor speeds, where the output frequency is reduced proportionally to ...

Comparative Analysis of Space Vector Pulse-Width Modulation Techniques of Three-Phase Inverter to Minimize Common Mode Voltage and/or Switching Losses

open access: yesMathematics
Inverter-based systems encounter significant challenges in mitigating common-mode voltage (CMV) and minimizing inverter losses. Despite various space vector pulse-width modulation (SVPWM) techniques proposed to address these issues, a comprehensive ...
