Multi-discontinuous modes: a new class of discontinuous modes in PWM switching converters
Proceedings of PESC '95 - Power Electronics Specialist Conference, 2002Multi-discontinuous modes (MDMs) have been detected in fourth order PWM DC-DC converters. MDMs are operated in light load conditions and involve repetitions and coexistence of current and voltage discontinuities within the switching period. The experimental characterization of a Cuk PWM converter operating several MDMs is presented in this paper.

Modelling the PWM Zeta converter in discontinuous conduction mode
MELECON 2008 - The 14th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference, 2008A full-order dynamic model of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) DC-to-DC Zeta converter in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is presented in this paper. The derivation procedure is based on the small-signal PWM switch model in DCM used in conjunction with a PWM derived Zeta topology.

Discontinuous PWM in single-phase grid-connected inverter
2016 IEEE 11th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2016Single-phase grid-connected inverter (GCI) is a kind of single-phase voltage source converter (VSC), and as the indispensable tie unit between different power supplies, it is widely used in the fields of wind generation and solar PV generation. In the paper, as first, on the basis of the concept of the discontinuous pulse-width modulation (DPWM) for ...

Modeling of PWM converters in discontinuous conduction mode. A reexamination
PESC 98 Record. 29th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference (Cat. No.98CH36196), 2002Six existing methods for modeling PWM converters in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) are reviewed. They are classified as either reduced-order or full-order model methods, and the methods in each group are shown to produce exactly the same averaged models.

On the modeling of PWM converters for large signal analysis in discontinuous conduction mode
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1994Several methods have been developed until today for the analysis of PWM converters operating in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) and many endeavours have been done in order to solve two well known problems: the nontrivial calculation of the internally controlled instant at which the current flowing into the diode falls to zero and the subsequent ...

Analysis of Discontinuous PWM Strategies of Three-Level Inverters (II)
2005 International Conference on Power Electronics and Drives Systems, 2006In the area of high voltages and powers, the high quality inverter-fed AC drive is more easily achieved by the use of three-level inverters. For three-level inverters three different PWM control regions can be introduced where different two-phase (discontinuous) PWM strategies may be applied. This paper deals with the analysis of voltage spectra of one

Modeling of conduction losses in PWM converters operating in discontinuous conduction mode
2000 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems. Emerging Technologies for the 21st Century. Proceedings (IEEE Cat No.00CH36353), 2002In this paper, a non-ideal PWM switch model considering conduction losses is developed. This issue was considered in the past only with the assumption that the inductor current ripple is negligible compared with its average value. Derivation of the new model is based on the energy loss invariant principle.

Discontinuous Space-Vector Modulation for Three-Level PWM Rectifiers
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2008This paper presents the implementation and experimental verification of two discontinuous pulsewidth modulation (DPWM) methods for three-phase, three-level rectifiers. DPWM's features, such as improved waveform quality, lower switching losses, reduced ac-side passive component size, are investigated and compared to the conventional continuous ...

Direct synchronized continuous and discontinuous PWM based on algebraic approach
IECON'01. 27th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.37243), 2002This paper describes two developed versions of direct synchronized pulsewidth modulation (PWM) of output voltage of converters, based on one-stage closed-form strategy of PWM with pure algebraic control dependencies. It is applied to voltage source inverters with continuous scheme of digital PWM for control at low/middle fundamental frequencies of ...

Dual-inverter-based photovoltaic system with discontinuous synchronized PWM
2014 IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Energy and Power Systems (IEPS), 2014Basic schemes of discontinuous synchronized space-vector modulation (providing continuous phase voltage symmetry), including combined scheme of discontinuous PWM, have been disseminated for control of dual inverters (with multilevel phase voltage) of transformer-based photovoltaic installation. Simulations give a behavior of these systems.
