A Two-Dimensional mKdV Linear Map and Its Application in Digital Image Cryptography
Cryptography is the science and study of protecting data in computer and communication systems from unauthorized disclosure and modification. An ordinary difference equation (a map) can be used in encryption–decryption algorithms.

Discretization of Poincaré map
Summary: We analytically study the relationship between the Poincaré map and its one step discretization. Error estimates are established depending basically on the right hand side function of the investigated ODE and the given numerical scheme. Our basic tool is a parametric version of a Newton-Kantorovich type methods.

Extreme Multistability in Simple Area-Preserving Map
Initial condition-relied extreme multistability has been recently found in many continuous dynamical systems. However, such a specific phenomenon has not yet been discovered in a discrete iterative map. To investigate this phenomenon, this paper proposes

Modelling stem cell differentiation related processes—A practical overview for biologists
Stem cell differentiation is complex and difficult to control experimentally. This review introduces suitable computational modelling approaches that can support stem cell research, from mechanistic ODE and abstract models to multiscale and deep learning methods.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

Development of Continuous and Discrete Neural Maps [PDF]
Two qualitatively different kinds of neural map have been described: continuous maps exemplified by the visual retinotopic map, and discrete maps exemplified by the olfactory glomerular map. Here, we review developmental mechanisms of retinotopic and olfactory glomerular mapping and discuss underlying commonalities that have emerged from recent studies.

S-box design method based on improved one-dimensional discrete chaotic map
A new method for obtaining random bijective S-boxes based on improved one-dimensional discrete chaotic map is presented. The proposed method uses a new special case of discrete chaotic map based on the composition of permutations, in order to overcome ...

Universal sequence map (USM) of arbitrary discrete sequences
Background For over a decade the idea of representing biological sequences in a continuous coordinate space has maintained its appeal but not been fully realized.
