On the estimation of numerical error bounds in linear algebra based on discrete stochastic arithmetic

Applied Numerical Mathematics, 2012
A method to estimate error bounds of algorithms in linear algebra is proposed. The method is based on discrete stochastic arithmetic (DSA). In order to extend the DSA concept to algorithms in linear algebra, estimations of numerical error bounds are derived based on DSA.

General Optimized Lower and Upper Bounds for Discrete and Continuous Arithmetic Asian Options [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Operations Research, 2016
We propose an accurate method for pricing arithmetic Asian options on the discrete or continuous average in a general model setting by means of a lower bound approximation.

Numerical Validation of Compensated Summation Algorithms with Stochastic Arithmetic

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2015
Compensated summation algorithms are designed to improve the accuracy of ill-conditioned sums. They are based on algorithms, such as FastTwoSum, which are proved to provide, with rounding to nearest, the sum of two floating-point numbers and the ...

On s-convex stochastic extrema for arithmetic risks

open access: yesInsurance: Mathematics and Economics, 1999
Recently, Denuit and Lefèvre (Insurance: Mathematics and Economics 20 (1997) 197-213) have introduced a class of discrete s-convex stochastic orderings for comparing arithmetic risks in actuarial sciences inter alia.
