Electrically Binary and Ternary Convertible CMOS Inverter and Logic Gate Using Complementary Field‐Effect Transistors Based on Vertically Stacked MoS2/WSe2 n‐/p‐ Field‐Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a reconfigurable T‐CMOS inverter based on vertically stacked MoS2 and WSe2 MOSFETs with a gate‐tunable MoS2 resistor, enabling stable ternary logic, is demonstrated. The T‐CMOS inverter supports electrical switching between ternary and binary modes and is further extended to implement ternary NAND (NMIN) and NOR (NMAX) logic gates ...

Anomaly matching, (axial) Schwinger models, and high-T super Yang-Mills domain walls

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We study the discrete chiral- and center-symmetry ’t Hooft anomaly matching in the charge-q two-dimensional Schwinger model. We show that the algebra of the discrete symmetry operators involves a central extension, implying the existence of q vacua, and ...

Breaking and restoring of diffeomorphism symmetry in discrete gravity

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss the fate of diffeomorphism symmetry in discrete gravity. Diffeomorphism symmetry is typically broken by the discretization. This has repercussions for the observable content and the canonical formulation of the theory.

Enhanced Switching Performance in Single‐Crystalline PbTiO3 Ferroelectric Memristors for Replicating Synaptic Plasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrated single‐crystalline PbTiO3‐based memristors with atomically sharp interfaces, well‐ordered lattices, and minimal lattice mismatch. The devices exhibited an ON/OFF ratio exceeding 105, high stability, and rich resistance‐state modulation.

Renormalization group for phases with broken discrete symmetry near quantum critical points [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We extend the Hertz–Millis theory of quantum phase transitions in itinerant electron systems to phases with broken discrete symmetry. By using a set of coupled flow equations derived within the functional renormalization group framework, we compute the ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by
