Influence of Outcoupling Layers on Top‐Emitting Perovskite Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Top‐emitting perovskite LEDs offer benefits over typical bottom‐emitting architectures, toward lasing, improved thermal management, and on‐chip fabrication compatibility. Outcoupling layers offer a strategy uniquely applicable to top‐emitting LEDs to optimize EQE by improving optical outcoupling.

The Role of Optical Centers in Neodymium‐Doped Calcium Fluoride: Optical Tagging and Nanothermometry in the Second Biological Window

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Tuning excitation by only 6 nm unveils three distinct optical centres in CaF2:Nd3⁺,Y3⁺, each with unique spectral fingerprints. Some exhibit properties ideal for precise nanoscale temperature sensing. Abstract Nd3+ has been proposed for nanothermometry in biological media, as both its emission and excitation wavelengths fall within the regions of low ...

Label‐Free Characterization of Lipid Interfaces Using Plasmonic Gold Nanorods as Optically Active Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A label‐free plasmonic nanosensor platform is presented based on single gold nanorods for the nanometric characterization of lipid interfaces. By correlating optical scattering signals with membrane packing and refractive index, this approach enables the detection of gel‐to‐fluid transitions in lipid interfaces, offering a robust, high‐resolution ...

Wrinkle‐Template Confinement of Kinetically Arrested Cellulose Nanocrystals for Sustainable Large Scale Reflection Gratings

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐supported all‐cellulose reflective gratings are fabricated from cellulose nanocrystal dispersions via a confinement printing process. Taking advantage of the reduced fluidity of concentrated, kinetically arrested cellulose nanocrystal dispersions, line arrays can be successfully transferred to dried CNC films.
