On a System of Discrete Distributions

Biometrika, 1967
Using the difference equation analogous to Pearson's differential equation, a system of discreate distributions is developed. This is found to contain many of the distributions in common usage. The choice of distribution usually depends on only the first three moments. Some examples are given.

Density in discrete systems

1993
The author considers the relation of graphs to languages resp. the relation of graph theory to formal language theory. Mainly he investigates the dense hierarchies of graphs and languages.

On the structure of discrete systems

1996
The intention of this article is to present a general, uniform and concise mathematical framework for modelling of systems, especially discrete systems. As basic structures families and relations, defined as families of families represented in parameterized form, are used, which allows the representation of dual and polymorphic relations.

Continuous-discrete interval observers for systems with discrete measurements

52nd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2013
We consider linear continuous-time systems with input, output and additive disturbances when measurements are only available at discrete instants. For these systems, we solve a state estimation problem by constructing a family of continuous-discrete time-invariant interval observers.

Dirac Systems with Discrete Spectra

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1987
In this paper we consider the one dimensional Dirac system1.1where αk(x) < 0, λ is a complex spectral parameter, and the remaining coefficients are suitably smooth and real valued. We regard (1.1) as regular at x = a but singular at x = b; in Section 4 we extend our result to problems having two singular endpoints.Equation (1.1) arises from the ...

On a nonlinear discrete hyperbolic system

Asymptotic Analysis, 2007
The existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behaviour of the solutions to a nonlinear discrete hyperbolic system supplemented with an extreme condition and initial data are investigated in a real Hilbert space.

A Taxonomy of Discrete Manufacturing Systems

Operations Research, 1991
This paper proposes a classification scheme for discrete manufacturing systems. It also includes a brief discussion of modeling, analysis, and optimization techniques that have been applied to manufacturing. This taxonomy is intended to be a first step in fitting existing environments to models.

The discrete dynamics of developmental systems

2009 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation, 2009
Operation of developmental systems is in many ways similar to that of discrete dynamic networks. Applying such network analysis to developmental system enables investigation of the dynamic properties of development at different levels. In this work the basins of attraction of a developmental system is explored in order to gain information about the ...
