ON CHAOTIFICATION OF DISCRETE SYSTEMS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2003
In this paper, the problem of making a nonlinear system chaotic by using state-feedback control is studied. The feedback controller uses a simple sine function of the system state, but only one component in each dimension. It is proved, by using the anti-integrable limit method, that the designed control system generates chaos in the sense of Devaney ...

Discrete Systems

2020
In this chapter some basic concepts of the finite element method are illustrated by solving basic discrete systems built from springs and bars. Generation of element stiffness matrix and assembly for the global system is performed. First basic steps on finite element programs are described.

Discrete Systems and Flowcharts

IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, 1978
This paper points out the abstract similarities between problems arising in programming, discrete systems analysis in engineering, and network flow problems in operations research. The highly developed techniques of analyzing discrete systems of two terminal elements in electrical engineering become applicable to analyzing the complexity and execution ...

Chaos in Periodic Discrete Systems

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2015
This paper focuses on chaos in periodic discrete systems, whose state space may vary with time. Some close relationships between some chaotic dynamical behaviors of a periodic discrete system and its autonomous induced system are given. Based on these relationships, several criteria of chaos are established and some sufficient conditions for no chaos ...

Diagnosability of discrete event systems

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1995
The authors study the diagnosability of discrete-event systems. Failure detection and isolation is an important task in the automatic control of large, complex systems. A discrete event system (DES) approach to the problem of failure diagnosis is proposed in this work.

DIMENSION REDUCTION FOR DISCRETE SYSTEMS

Applied and Industrial Mathematics in Italy II, 2007
Object of this talk is the description of the overall behaviour of variational pair-interaction lattice systems defined on `thin' domains of ; i.e. on domains consisting on a finite number of mutually interacting copies of a portion of a -dimensional discrete lattice.

On the discretization of singular systems

IMA Journal of Mathematical Control and Information, 2004
Two discretization methods of a singular system are proposed. The first one is a state space discretization and the second one is a singular system discretization. The method is a zero-order hold discretization for input and first-order approximation of the derivatives of the input.
