Topologigal Dynamics of Discrete-Time Systems

1990
In this paper necessary and sufficient Lyapunov-like conditions are presented for the absolutely asymptotic stability of discrete-time control systems in the vicinity of a compact set.

Controllability and Reachability of Dynamic Discrete-Time Linear Systems

The Fourth International Conference on Control and Automation 2003 ICCA Final Program and Book of Abstracts ICCA-03, 2003
For discrete-time linear systems, controllability and reachability are not equivalent. Instead of the well-known Kalman's rank condition, which characterizes reachability, controllability to origin of the time invariant, discrete-time linear system is equivalent to the Fuhrmann's rank condition.

Switching time optimization in discretized hybrid dynamical systems

2012 IEEE 51st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2012
Switching time optimization (STO) arises in systems that have a finite set of control modes, where a particular mode can be chosen to govern the system evolution at any given time. The STO problem has been extensively studied for switched systems that consists of time continuous ordinary differential equations with switching laws.

Hierarchy of discrete-time dynamical systems, a survey

Bull. EATCS, 1995
Summary: This paper is an attempt to unify classical automata theory and dynamical systems theory. We present a notion of generalized dynamical system, allowing us to compare properties of both types of systems. Then we establish a hierarchy of dynamical systems, including Turing machines, cellular automata and classical dynamical systems.

Positive Dynamical Systems in Discrete Time

2015
This book provides a systematic, rigorous and self-contained treatment of positive dynamical systems. A dynamical system is positive when all relevant variables of a system are nonnegative in a natural way. This is in biology, demography or economics, where the levels of populations or prices of goods are positive.
