Comparison of Image Compressions: Analog Transformations

open access: yesProceedings, 2020
A comparison between the four most used transforms, the discrete Fourier transform (DFT), discrete cosine transform (DCT), the Walsh–Hadamard transform (WHT) and the Haar-wavelet transform (DWT), for the transmission of analog images, varying their ...

Discrete-time scale-shift approach for wavelet construction and analysis

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics, 2023
We provide a sufficient condition to construct a wavelet family from a purely discrete-time signal. The construction is based on an exact mathematical definition of the scale-shift operator in discrete-time and strongly motivated by a strict equivalence ...

How hard is the euro area core? A wavelet analysis of growth cycles in Germany, France and Italy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Using recent advances in time-varying spectral methods, this research analyses the growth cycles of the core of the euro area in terms of frequency content and phasing of cycles.

Accelerating discrete wavelet transforms on GPUS [PDF]

open access: yes2017 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2017
The two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform has a huge number of applications in image-processing techniques. Until now, several papers compared the performance of such transform on graphics processing units (GPUs). However, all of them only dealt with lifting and convolution computation schemes.

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Coding Implementation By Using Discrete Wavelet Transform [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2010
Image processing can be considered as an essential part of wide rangecomputer applications. This application deals with image coding and it discussesimage coding schemes, by using transforms to code the image or not.

From Clinic to Computation: Multiscale Bioengineering Strategies for Durable Biological Aortic Valve Replacements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

WSOM: Building Adaptive Wavelets with Self-organizing Maps [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The WSOM (Wavelet Self-Organizing Map) model, a neural network for the creation of wavelet bases adapted to the distribution of input data, is introduced.

A Unique Wavelet-based Multicarrier System with and without MIMO over Multipath Channels with AWGN [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
yesRecent studies suggest that multicarrier systems using wavelets outperform conventional OFDM systems using the FFT, in that they have well-contained side lobes, improved spectral efficiency and BER performance, and they do not require a cyclic prefix.

Understanding the Role of Superhydrophobicity and Superhydrophilicity in Salt‐Spray Corrosion of Nanosecond Pulsed Laser‐Textured AA2024 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanosecond pulse laser texturing yields superhydrophobic and superhydrophilic AA2024 surfaces. Salt‐spray tests show that periodic superhydrophobic patterns suppress pitting, whereas superhydrophilic textures enhance it, linking laser‐induced morphology, wettability, and oxide chemistry to corrosion resistance.
