Discretion and contextual influences on creative thinking [PDF]

Abstract We assume that the points in volumes smaller than an elementary volume (which may have a Planck size) are indistinguishable in any physical experiment. This naturally leads to a picture of a discrete space with a finite number of degrees of freedom per elementary volume.

On the Reversibility of Discretization [PDF]
“Discretization” usually denotes the operation of mapping continuous functions to infinite or finite sequences of discrete values. It may also mean to map the operation itself from one that operates on functions to one that operates on infinite or finite sequences.

Discrete Hamiltonians of discrete Painlevé equations [PDF]
We express discrete Painlev equations as discrete Hamiltonian systems. The discrete Hamiltonian systems here mean the canonical transformations defined by generating functions. Our construction relies on the classification of the discrete Painlev equations based on the surface-type.

Successful projects or success in project management - are projects dependent on a methodology?

Discrete Memristor and Discrete Memristive Systems
In this paper, we investigate the mathematical models of discrete memristors based on Caputo fractional difference and G–L fractional difference. Specifically, the integer-order discrete memristor is a special model of those two cases. The “∞”-type hysteresis loop curves are observed when input is the bipolar periodic signal.

This paper investigates the desirability of adopting a rule in favor of discretionary monetary policy in a model exhibiting Kydland and Prescott's dynamic inconsistency problem. We deviate from earlier work by adopting assumptions regarding policymaker preferences and inflation dynamics that are compatible with empirically motivated models used for ...

Leeway for the loyal: a model of employee discretion [PDF]
This article examines the factors underlying task discretion from an economist's perspective. It argues that the key axis for understanding discretion is the trade-off between the positive effects of discretion on potential output per employee and the ...
