Discrete Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Models Applied to Control the Knee Joint Movement of Paraplegic Patients

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this manuscript, a method for designing Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy discrete-time regulators based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) is proposed to control the variation of the knee joint angle movement of paraplegic patients through electrical ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Modelling Interaction Effects by Using Extended WOE Variables with Applications to Credit Scoring

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The term credit scoring refers to the application of formal statistical tools to support or automate loan-issuing decision-making processes. One of the most extended methodologies for credit scoring include fitting logistic regression models by using WOE

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

MORPHOLOGICAL SAMPLING OF CLOSED SETS

open access: yesImage Analysis and Stereology, 2011
We briefiy survey the standard morphological approach (Heijmans, 1994) to the sampling (or discretization) of sets. Then we summarize the main results of our metric theory of sampling (Ronse and Tajine, 2000; 2001; 2002; Tajine and Ronse, 2002), which ...

Station Arrangement Optimization of Photoelectric Theodolites Based on Efficient Traversing Discrete Points

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
Station arrangement optimization of photoelectric theodolites in shooting ranges presents a non-convex and non-linear problem, and the method required to seek the global optimal solution remains an open question.

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

THE DISCRETIZATION OF THE POLARIZED SIGNAL

open access: yesНаучный вестник МГТУ ГА, 2018
Often, the monitoring systems solution of remote sensing problems, recognition (classification, discrimination) of radar objects using radio polarimetry methods is required in real time mode with the display of the current information on the radar ...

Discrete Symmetries/Discrete Theories

open access: yes, 2012
Dynamical, metastable supersymmetry breaking appears to be a generic phenomena in supersymmetric field theories. It's simplest implementation is within the so-called "retrofitted O'Raifeartaigh Models". While seemingly flexible, model building in these theories is significantly constrained. In gauge-mediated versions, if the approximate $R$ symmetry of
