Multibit Ferroelectric HfZrO Memcapacitor for Non‐Volatile Analogue Memory and Reconfigurable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.

Fast algorithms for Quadrature by Expansion I: Globally valid expansions

open access: yes, 2017
The use of integral equation methods for the efficient numerical solution of PDE boundary value problems requires two main tools: quadrature rules for the evaluation of layer potential integral operators with singular kernels, and fast algorithms for ...

In‐Memory Euclidean Distance Computation in a Stacked Memristor Crossbar for Hardware Self‐Organizing Maps

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stacked memristor crossbar architecture is presented that enables direct in‐memory computation of Euclidean distance through intrinsic current subtraction at a shared middle electrode. By physically encoding weights and squared weights in vertically aligned layers, the system realizes energy‐efficient self‐organizing map learning, demonstrating ...

Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...

Dispensing Volumetric Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dispensing volumetric additive manufacturing (DVAM) prints 3D structures inside a photocurable resin droplet suspended from the tip of a glass pipette, enabling sequential printing without resin vats or manual part removal. Real‐time droplet profiling and ray‐tracing‐based correction compensate for optical distortion at the curved resin‐air interface ...

Discreteness properties of translation numbers in solvable groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Group Theory, 2000
Let \(G\) be a group with a metric \(d\) which is invariant under left multiplication by \(G\), let \(\|\;\|\colon G\to\mathbb{Z}\) be defined by \(\|x\|=d(x,1_G)\) and let \(\tau(x)=\limsup_{n\to\infty}\tfrac{\|x^n\|}{n}\). This quantity is called the translation number of \(x\).

Clean Up Behind You ‐ Novel Patterning Approach for Solid Immersion Lenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A focused ion beam (FIB) milling strategy enables rapid fabrication of solid immersion lenses (SILs) with smooth, debris‐free surfaces eliminating the need for post‐processing. The optimized pattern improves efficiency and surface quality. SILs containing NV centers are also investigated, confirming the technique's suitability for quantum and photonic ...

The dynamics of transition to turbulence in plane Couette flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In plane Couette flow, the incompressible fluid between two plane parallel walls is driven by the motion of those walls. The laminar solution, in which the streamwise velocity varies linearly in the wall-normal direction, is known to be linearly stable ...

Structure Formation in Butterfly Scales: Interplay of Genetic Control, Mechanical Instabilities, and Dynamic Material Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Butterfly wing scales are intricate cuticular functional nanosctructures. This perspective suggests that spatially varying material properties, cytoskeletal constraints, and growth‐driven mechanical instabilities shape the resulting nanoscale architectures created from single cells.

Direct Punjabi to English Speech Translation using Discrete Units

open access: yesInternational Journal on Cybernetics & Informatics
Speech-to-speech translation is yet to reach the same level of coverage as text-to-text translation systems. The current speech technology is highly limited in its coverage of over 7000 languages spoken worldwide, leaving more than half of the population deprived of such technology and shared experiences.
