Three Spodumene Reference Materials for Oxygen Isotope Measurement by Ion Microprobe

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Three spodumene reference materials were developed for SIMS oxygen isotope measurement. All three materials are homogeneous in oxygen isotopes. Crystal orientation has no effect on instrumental mass fractionation. This study reports on the development of three spodumene reference materials referred to as Curtin University (CU) Tri‐1, Kun‐A‐1

Population genomic analysis of Mahoenui giant wētā (Deinacrida mahoenui) reveals minimal reduction in genomic diversity following translocation

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
The Mahoenui giant wētā is an Aotearoa New Zealand endemic insect of conservation concern, having been extirpated from the majority of its natural range before rediscovery in the 1960s. We assess the genetic impacts of a translocation from the remaining population in the Mahoenui Giant Wētā Scientific Reserve to establish a new population on Mahurangi ...

Genetic and phenotypic responses to habitat fragmentation in a European harvester ant

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Our work highlights the use of multiple approaches to evaluate species responses to habitat fragmentation. Less allelic richness in habitats with fewer ant nests and reduced heterozygosity with less allelic richness indicated inbreeding; smaller gyne mesosoma size in less connected habitats indicated reduced flight ability.

Mediterranean diet and obesity polygenic risk interaction on adiposity in European children: The IDEFICS/I.Family Study

open access: yesPediatric Obesity, EarlyView.
Summary Background and Objectives To examine whether changes in the Mediterranean Diet (MD) or any of its MD food groups modulate the genetic susceptibility to obesity in European youth, both in cross‐sectional and longitudinal analyses. Methods For cross‐sectional analysis, 1982 participants at baseline, 1649 in follow‐up 1 (FU1) and 1907 in follow‐up
