Disinfection and formation of disinfection by-products in a photoelectrocatalytic system
In this study, disinfection and formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs) were studied in a photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) treatment system. Disinfection performance of titanium dioxide (TiO(2)) in the PEC system was determined through Escherichia coli (E. coli) inactivation.

Tackling unknown disinfection by-products: Lessons learned
Disinfection by-products (DBPs) are important environmental contaminants that have documented human health issues from many epidemiologic studies. Unlike classical contaminants, they are not manufactured, but form during drinking water treatment.

Mutagenic Activity of Disinfection By-Products [PDF]
Data on raw water quality, disinfection treatment practices, and the resulting mutagenic properties of the treated water were compiled from pilot- and full-scale treatment experiments to evaluate that parameter which might produce variability in the results of a mutagenic study.

Effect of Oxidation on the Formation of Disinfectant By-products of Low Molecular Weight Organic Matter [PDF]
Some natural organic compounds (NOC) such as aromatic compounds can trigger the formation of disinfection by-products (DBPs). In chlorination (disinfectant) process resultant water quality depletes.

Treatment of disinfection by‐product precursors [PDF]
Formation of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs), of which trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) are the major groups, can be controlled by removal of natural organic matter (NOM) before disinfection. In the literature, removal of precursors is variable, even with the same treatment. The treatment of DBP precursors and NOM was examined

Disinfection by-products in drinking water distribution system of Bucharest City
Chlorine is widely used in Romania and all over the world as a disinfectant of drinking water. During the chlorination process, the natural organic matter and inorganic ions react with chlorine forming disinfection by-products (DBPs).

Limited association between disinfectant use and either antibiotic or disinfectant susceptibility of Escherichia coli in both poultry and pig husbandry [PDF]
Background Farm disinfectants are widely used in primary production, but questions have been raised if their use can select for antimicrobial resistance.
