Multiplying Elements of Fragmentation? Polycentrism, the Launcher Crisis and the Future of Europe in Space

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the current controversies surrounding the European Ariane launcher and its implications for the future of European space governance. The Ariane program, historically a symbol of European technopolitical integration, faces mounting challenges due to delays, rising costs and increasing competition from private actors like ...

Iron Ore Pricing in China: Financialization Through a Marxist Lens

open access: yesAbacus, EarlyView.
We offer a Marxist interpretation of financialization as we examine the Chinese market for iron ore and the shift in the pricing mechanism from an annual fixed price to an indexed price from 2010. Drawing upon Marx's theory of the circuit of capital, we illustrate an empirical case of financialization that results from the conflict between social ...

Disjunctive Bases: Normal Forms for Modal Logics

open access: yes, 2017
We present the concept of a disjunctive basis as a generic framework for normal forms in modal logic based on coalgebra. Disjunctive bases were defined in previous work on completeness for modal fixpoint logics, where they played a central role in the proof of a generic completeness theorem for coalgebraic mu-calculi.

Argumentation strategies in party competition

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Political Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Political parties' rhetorical strategies play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and electoral outcomes. To gain insight into what kind of arguments parties present to the public, and under what conditions, we develop a model of argumentation where parties compete to persuade voters before engaging in platform competition.

A heuristic method for multi-block parallel decomposition of a system of partial Boolean functions

open access: yesInformatika, 2018
A heuristic method for multi-block parallel decomposition of a system of partial Boolean functions is described. The method minimizes the number of functions forming the required superposition.

Learning disjunctive normal forms in a dual classifier system (Extended abstract) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Genetics-Based Machine Learning systems suffer from many problems as representational weaknesses. We propose to introduce more general structures we used to learn disjunctive normal forms. Results show how our model can be used to discover and maintain complete classifier solutions.

Macau as Method: Recombinant Urbanism in Post‐Socialist China

open access: yesAsia Pacific Viewpoint, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In ‘Asia as Method’, Chen Kuan‐Hsing argues for the value of an indigenous inter‐Asian approach to analysing the effects of European imperialism on the countries and citizens of Asia. This article mobilises both Chen's inter‐Asian referencing strategy and the city‐state of Macau to explore Macau's role in China's engagements with global ...

Disjunctive and conjunctive decompositions of incompletely defined Boolean functions in a Binary Decision Diagram

open access: yesInformatika
Objectives. The problems of minimizing the number of cofactors (subfunctions) of the Shannon expansions located at the same level of the BDD, representing a system of incompletely defined (partial) Boolean functions, are considered.

Towards a unified theory of logic programming semantics: Level mapping characterizations of selector generated models

open access: yes, 2005
Currently, the variety of expressive extensions and different semantics created for logic programs with negation is diverse and heterogeneous, and there is a lack of comprehensive comparative studies which map out the multitude of perspectives in a ...
