Thermodynamics and kinetics of solids fragmentation at severe plastic deformation

open access: yesCondensed Matter Physics, 2015
The approach of nonequilibrium evolution thermodynamics earlier offered is developed. It helps to describe the processes of defect formation within the adiabatic approximation.

Irreducible Radial Dislocation of the Proximal Interphalangeal Joint of a Finger

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedics, Trauma and Rehabilitation, 2015
Dislocations of the proximal interphalangeal joint (PIPJ) are often easily reduced with closed reduction and manipulation. Irreducible PIPJ dislocations are rare.

Intermittent dislocation density fluctuations in crystal plasticity from a phase-field crystal model

open access: yes, 2014
Plastic deformation mediated by collective dislocation dynamics is investigated in the two-dimensional phase-field crystal model of sheared single crystals.

Incidence of Elbow Injury Patterns in Japanese Adolescent Judo Players: Analysis from a Nationwide Insurance Database

open access: yesSports
Elbow injuries are common in judo, particularly among adolescents. This study investigated the incidence and patterns of three types of elbow injuries (sprain, dislocation, and fracture-dislocation) among Japanese adolescent judo players (12 to 18 years ...

Crystal plasticity analysis of the suppression of dislocation accumulation during the production process of semiconductor devices

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
High-density memories and high-speed CPUs are usually realized by reduction of the size of semiconductor cells in Large Scale Integrations (LSIs). Representative length scale of Ultra Large Scale Integration (ULSI) cells is going to be in nano-meter ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A Case of Neglected Patella Dislocation Related to Tibial Plateau Fracture

open access: yesBezmiâlem Science, 2013
Acute dislocation of the patella is a common orthopaedic emergency. The dislocated patella commonly reduces spontaneously or is reduced by a physician as an emergency. Rarely, open reduction is needed. Osteochondral fragments that detach from the patella

Molecular dynamics simulation of indentation-cutting on Ni and Cu by rigid Fe tool (Focus on combination of surface structure of tool and work)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
2D-like indentations are performed by molecular dynamics simulation as “nanometric indentation cutting”. A 90 degree triangle rigid bcc-Fe indenter with (001) or (110) surfaces is continuously drove into single crystalline fcc-Ni and Cu with free side ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Influence of humeral stem inclination in reverse shoulder arthroplasty on range of motion: a meta-analysis

open access: yesJSES Reviews, Reports, and Techniques, 2021
Hypothesis: The reverse shoulder arthroplasty, as introduced by Grammont, has had many modifications over time. One of these modifications was reducing the neck-shaft angle (NSA) from 155 degrees to 135 degrees.
