What this study adds to existing knowledge: Severe trochlear dysplasia may demonstrate more morphological abnormalities on imaging, while low‐grade dysplasia might be performed exclusively to the proximal trochlear segment. Therefore, the trochlear groove entry plane should be considered the gold standard when describing the trochlear morphology.

The role of acquired host immunity in periodontal diseases
Abstract The aim of this narrative review is to relate the contribution of European researchers to the complex topic of the host immune system in periodontal disease, focusing on acquired immunity. Other chapters in this volume will address the genetics and autoantibody responses and other forms of immunity to periodontal disease.

Effect of Hydrogen on Dislocation Glide Energy Barriers in FCC Metals
Although hydrogen-induced damage has been extensively studied, a gap remains in the quantification of hydrogen's effects across mechanisms and length scales. This work explores approaches to isolate and estimate the effect of hydrogen content on

AbstractPeriodontitis is a complex inflammatory disease in which the host genome, in conjunction with extrinsic factors, determines susceptibility and progression. Genetic predisposition is the strongest risk factor in the first decades of life. As people age, chronic exposure to the periodontal microbiome puts a strain on the proper maintenance of ...

Periodontitis and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease
Abstract Objective Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease with systemic effects that extend beyond the oral cavity and contribute to systemic immune and metabolic dysregulation. Chronic liver diseases, particularly metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and its progressive phenotypes, have emerged as major global ...

Dislocation nucleation from surface step in silicon: The glide set versus the shuffle set
We have studied the mechanisms of dislocation nucleation from surface defects in silicon submitted to various stresses and temperatures. Molecular dynamics simulations with three classical potentials have shown the existence of two different plastic ...

ABSTRACT Aim A growing body of research supports an association between periapical inflammation and an increased risk of various systemic effects. However, there is currently no scientific evidence demonstrating a causal relationship between this inflammation and changes in epithelial or endothelial permeability in patients with apical periodontitis ...
