Image Simulation of Dislocation Loops
Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1976Computer simulation of image contrast is a useful tool in the identification of lattice defects observed in the electron microscope. In order to obtain high quality simulated micrographs, it is necessary either to consume a considerable amount of computer time or to have the micrographs processed through special photographic devices.

Continuous distribution of dislocation loops
Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1962Formulae are derived for the displacement and stress in an unbounded continuous isotropic medium when the dislocation loops are continuously distributed. The physical interpretation of the tensor introduced for the dislocation loop density in the crystal is discussed and the relation to the theory of the continuous distribution of dislocations is ...

Circular dislocation loops in bimaterials
Journal of Physics: Condensed Matter, 1991The solution of the elastic field in bimaterials due to a circular dislocation loop of arbitrary orientation within one of the materials is presented. The bimaterial is idealized as two semi-infinite isotropic elastic solids either perfectly bonded together or in frictionless contact with each other at the planar interface.

The spacing of prismatic dislocation loops
Philosophical Magazine, 1960Abstract The stresses round a circular prismatic dislocation loop are determined and used to calculate the spacings between such loops in a row generated from a source of internal stress. The results are consistent with the available experimental observations.

Energy of elliptical dislocation loops
Philosophical Magazine, 1966Abstract The strain energy of an elliptical dislocation loop of arbitrary Burgers vector is obtained analytically using isotropic elasticity theory.

Continuum theory of dislocation loops
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1965Abstract For dislocation loops, the zeroth moment of dislocation strength always vanishes so that the first moment must be defined in order to give a continuum description. A second order tensor is thus introduced to account for the dislocation moment. This physical quantity contains more information than the macroscopic plastic strain.

Size distribution of dislocation loops
Acta Metallurgica, 1973Abstract The annealing behavior of dislocation loops in aluminium obtained by bulk quenching is discussed. If the mean distance between loops is small compared with the grain-size of the specimen, the total number of vacancies condensed in loops remains constant, whilst the difference of chemical potential at loops of different sizes provides a ...

Dislocation loops in hexagonal crystals
Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1974Summary In this paper, E. Kroner's representation of the Green's function is first used to derive closed-form solutions for the components of the displacement and stress fields created by an arbitrary dislocation loop situated in a basal plane of a hexagonal crystal. The interaction energy of two dislocation loops in basal planes is then calculated.

VACANCIES AND DISLOCATION LOOPS IN GRAPHITE
Applied Physics Letters, 1962Electron microscope studies were undertaken to determine concentrations and mobilities of vacancies in graphite. Crystals were quenched and annealed to various temperatures. Crystals under strain (some deliberately bent) before heat treatment contained larger numbers of loops while crystals treated under strain- free conditions showed no loops ...
