Risk Factors and Predictive Models for Sarcopenia in Older Adults
Independent risk factors for sarcopenia identified by Lasso regression and logistic regression in the study were BMI, prealbumin, albumin/globulin ratio (A/G ratio), serum creatinine, and phosphorus. This study found that 54% of elderly inpatients were prescribed at least one potentially inappropriate medication (PIM) based on the 2023 AGS Beers Criteria. Among identified PIMs, 32.2% were medications to avoid, and 52.8% required cautious use. Polypharmacy and chronic kidney disease (CKD) were key predictors of PIM use.
