Stereoscopic learning for disparity estimation

2011 IEEE International Symposium of Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2011
In this paper, we propose a learning based approach to estimating pixel disparities from the motion information extracted out of input monoscopic video sequences. We represent each video frame with superpixels, and extract the motion features from the superpixels and the frame boundary.

Disparity Estimation on Stereo Mammograms

IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, 2015
We consider the problem of depth estimation on digital stereo mammograms. Being able to elucidate 3D information from stereo mammograms is an important precursor to conducting 3D digital analysis of data from this promising new modality. The problem is generally much harder than the classic stereo matching problem on visible light images of the natural

Shape-indifferent stereo disparity based on disparity gradient estimation

Image and Vision Computing, 2017
Abstract A new algorithm capable of estimating disparity gradients to produce accurate dense disparities is proposed. Such a disparity gradient plays a critical role in acquiring accurate disparities for scenes with many different object shapes.

Fast disparity estimation for 3DTV applications

2012 Visual Communications and Image Processing, 2012
The depth estimation reference software (DERS) algorithm developed by the MPEG 3-D Video Coding could produce high-quality disparity maps for 3DTV applications but suffers from high computational complexity due to its complicated graph-cut optimization.

Estimation of disparity maps by compressive sensing

2013 21st Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2013
Compressive sensing enables the reconstruction of a signal from its small number of samples in a sparse domain. It is advantageous to use compressive sensing to achieve dense signals in situations where measurements are costly, as in the case of disparity maps.

Object segmentation based on disparity estimation

Proceedings of the first ACM/SIGEVO Summit on Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, 2009
Object segmentation plays an important role in multi-view video analysis. In this paper, we present a new object segmentation method for multi-view video in which only the disparity is used for segmentation and the motion estimation is neglected. Firstly, a modified locally adaptive support-weight approach is proposed for disparity estimation.

Depth estimation from focus and disparity

2016 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2016
This paper explores how focusing and defocusing can be used in combination with stereoscopy to enhance the accuracy and speed of depth estimation. The proposed method for combining focus information with stereo is inspired from how the human brain perceives depth using both.
