Hierarchical coding of light fields with disparity maps
Proceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003A coder for light fields is presented. Due to the large amount of data needed to represent a complete light field, a hierarchical decomposition is employed. The full light field is built up by recursively predicting intermediate images from a small subset of light-field images.

Sparse disparity map estimation on stereo images
2012 20th Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2012In this work we are presenting a sparse disparity map extraction procedure based on block matching approach. The blocks are taken around the edge locations in the reference image and searched in the target image by evaluating matching costs for each search location. For this block matching approach, the performances of cost calculation methods, such as

Mapping Disparities in Access to Spirometry
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care MedicineAbstract RATIONALE: The underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis of chronic lung diseases, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lead to poorer health outcomes. Despite being frequently underdiagnosed, COPD was the second leading cause of hospitalizations in Canada in 2022-2023.

Disparity map computation on scalable computing
Proceedings of 2010 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications, 2010This paper addresses the evaluation of a new disparity map computing algorithm characterized by a novel spurious removal strategy. Using this algorithm we eliminate a high percentage of wrong values with a low performance penalty. When testing images, incorrect percentages were reduced by 65% and 85%.

Nonlinear disparity mapping for stereoscopic 3D
ACM Transactions on Graphics, 2010This paper addresses the problem of remapping the disparity range of stereoscopic images and video. Such operations are highly important for a variety of issues arising from the production, live broadcast, and consumption of 3D content.

Disparity maps in uniform areas
2013The invention concerns a method of processing left and right disparity maps comprising a step of computing a disparity map for each view comprising the step of detecting the uniform areas from the right and left views and filtering the disparity maps taking account of the detected uniform area.
