Learning Efficient Stereo Matching Network With Depth Discontinuity Aware Super-Resolution

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown great potential to provide accurate depth estimation based on stereo images. Previous work has focused on developing robust stereo matching architectures, while little attention has been paid on ...

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Stereo Image Coder Based on the MRF Model for Disparity Compensation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2006
This paper presents a stereoscopic image coder based on the MRF model and MAP estimation of the disparity field. The MRF model minimizes the noise of disparity compensation, because it takes into account the residual energy, smoothness constraints on ...

Depth Estimation From a Light Field Image Pair With a Generative Model

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In this paper, we propose a novel method to estimate the disparity maps from a light field image pair captured by a pair of light field cameras. Our method integrates two types of critical depth cues, which are separately inferred from the epipolar plane

Mapping disparities in access to lecanemab in Georgia

open access: yesAlzheimer's & Dementia
AbstractINTRODUCTIONThe approval of lecanemab‐irmb offers potential disease‐modifying treatments for Alzheimer's disease (AD), but geographical access barriers to infusion and amyloid positron emission tomography (PET) imaging sites might prevent timely access to the drug.

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...

A PDES method preserving boundaries on dense disparity map reconstruction

open access: yes, 2008
Over smoothness restricts the application of PDEs in the field of dense disparity map reconstruction, because disparity map reconstruction usually requires preserving discontinuousness in some areas such as the boundaries of objects.
