Fluid Dynamics in a Continuous Pump-Mixer
The fluid dynamic (flow rates) and hydrodynamic behavior (local droplet size distributions and local holdup) of a continuous DN300 pump-mixer were investigated using water as the continuous phase and paraffin oil as the dispersed phase.

Holdup of dispersed phase in a mixer-settler extraction column.
Holdups in a stirred liquid-liquid dispersion were measured in a single-stage mixer-settler column equipped with a lifter turbine impeller. There was a large difference in dispersed phase holdup between the local positions above and below the impeller.

Reciprocating plate column - fundamental research and application in Serbia from 1970 to 2020 [PDF]
In the group of multiphase contactors and reactors, an important place belongs to reciprocat-ing plate columns (RPCs), which consist of a set of perforated plates fixed on a carrier (the so-called reciprocating or vibrating agitator) moving periodically ...

CFD Simulation of Two-Phase Flow in a Hybrid Pulsed Sieve-Plate Solvent Extraction Column: Prediction of Holdup and Axial-dispersion Coefficients [PDF]
Two-phase computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models for a hybrid pulsed sieve-plate solvent extraction column, as well as a standard pulsed sieve-plate column, have been developed with commercial software ANSYS FLUENT.

Local Static Hold-up in a Rotary Sieved Disc Contactor for a Butyl Acetate-water System
Considering the importance of liquid static holdup in liquid-liquid extraction columns, a novel experimental approach for predicting the mentioned parameter in a rotary sieved disc contactor has is presented in this research.

Hydrodynamics of gas-agitated liquid-liquid extraction columns [PDF]
Although the non-agitated extraction columns (spray column, packed column, perforated plate column, sieve plate column, etc) can handle high flow rates and are simple and cheap, there have been relatively few applications of these columns because they

Comparative Analysis of Riser Base and Flowline Gas Injection on Vertical Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow
Gas injection is a frequently used method for artificial lift and flow regime rectification in offshore production and transportation flowlines. The flow behaviour in such flowlines is complex and a better understanding of flow characteristics, such as ...

Gas holdup and flow regime transition in spider-sparger bubble column: Effect of liquid phase properties [PDF]
This paper discusses the effects of the liquid velocity and the liquid phase properties on the gas holdup and the flow regime transition in a large-diameter and large-scale counter-current two-phase bubble column.
