Swimming Abilities of Temperate Pelagic Fish Larvae Prove that They May Control Their Dispersion in Coastal Areas

open access: yesDiversity, 2019
The Sense Acuity and Behavioral (SAAB) Hypothesis proposes that the swimming capabilities and sensorial acuity of temperate fish larvae allows them to find and swim towards coastal nursery areas, which are crucial for their recruitment. To gather further

Prerequisites and prospects for sustainable development of grain production in Ukraine

open access: yesAgricultural and Resource Economics, 2021
Purpose. The aim of the article is to identify the benefits of the chosen strategy of agribusiness (profit maximization, or yield maximization) based on the statistical observations of yields and production factors (fertilizers, plant protection products)

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Direct evidence of nuclear spin waves in Nd$_2$CuO$_4$ by high-resolution neutron-spin-echo spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2013
We investigated the dispersion of nuclear spin waves in Nd$_2$CuO$_4$ by using neutron spin-echo spectroscopy at millikelvin temperatures. Our results show unambiguously the existence of dispersion of nuclear spin waves in Nd$_2$CuO$_4$ at T = 30 mK.

Dispersion par les cours d'eau  des propagules végétatives et sexuées du complexe d'espèces Reynoutria

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2019
Chez les renouées asiatiques (complexe Reynoutria), l'eau des rivières est un des principaux vecteurs naturels de dispersion des propagules sexuées (akènes ailés) et végétatives (fragments de tiges et de rhizomes).

Ocean convergence and the dispersion of flotsam

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2018
Significance Ocean currents move material released on the ocean surface away from the release point and, over time, spread it over an increasingly large area.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Fast and broadband fiber dispersion measurement with dense wavelength sampling

open access: yes, 2014
We report on a method to obtain dispersion measurements from spectral-domain low-coherence interferograms which enables high accuracy (~ps/(nm·km)), broadband measurements and the determination of very dense (up to 20 points/nm over 500 nm) data sets for

Approximations of Random Dispersal Operators/Equations by Nonlocal Dispersal Operators/Equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
This paper is concerned with the approximations of random dispersal operators/equations by nonlocal dispersal operators/equations. It first proves that the solutions of properly rescaled nonlocal dispersal initial-boundary value problems converge to the solutions of the corresponding random dispersal initial-boundary value problems.

Controlling effective dispersion within a channel with flow and active walls [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Channels are fundamental building blocks from biophysics to soft robotics, often used to transport or separate solutes. As solute particles inevitably transverse between streamlines along the channel by molecular diffusion, the effective diffusion of the solute along the channel is enhanced - an effect known as Taylor dispersion.
