A two patch prey-predator model with multiple foraging strategies in predators: Applications to Insects [PDF]
We propose and study a two patch Rosenzweig-MacArthur prey-predator model with immobile prey and predator using two dispersal strategies. The first dispersal strategy is driven by the prey-predator interaction strength, and the second dispersal is prompted by the local population density of predators which is referred as the passive dispersal.

IT is strange that we have had to wait so long for a manual on dispersal. Many books have been written on the geographical distribution of animals and plants; and islands and even continents have been raised or lowered to account for the strange anomalies. Yet comparatively little attention has been paid to a study that must be undertaken before we are

In recent years, many studies have shown a link between the level of particulate matter (PM) pollution in big cities and various health problems, including a large number of cardiorespiratory diseases such as asthma or lung cancer.

Numerical dispersion analysis of the convected Helmholtz equation [PDF]
We present the numerical dispersion effects in solving the convected Helmholtz equation by the conforming and nonconforming quadrilateral finite elements. Particularly, we evaluate the dispersion relations for the numerical schemes. The dispersive behaviors are analyzed by focusing on the Mach number and the angular frequency. Numerical experiments are

Study of epoxy/CNT nanocomposites prepared via dispersion in the hardener
In this study, carboxylated (SWCNT-c) and pristine (SWCNT) single-walled carbon nanotubes were randomly dispersed in a hardener prior to mixing it with an epoxy resin. The influence of several parameters on the dispersion process were investigated.

Linguists debate the nature of grammatical knowledge. Many argue it is innate knowledge of syntactic structure that we use when generating utterances; others argue it emerges from linguistic experience, and forms exemplars for modeling novel utterances ...

Dispersion Compensation using High-Positive Dispersive Optical Fibers [PDF]
The common and traditional method for dispersion compensation in optical domain is concatenating the transmit optical fiber by a compensating optical fiber having high-negative dispersion coefficient. In this paper, we take an opposite direction and show how an optical fiber with high-positive dispersion coefficient can also be used for dispersion ...

Pretonic Vowel Reduction in Brazilian Portuguese: Harmony and Dispersion
This paper follows up on some of the phonetic assumptions underlying earlier discussions in the phonological literature of the vowel reduction in Brazilian Portuguese such as Crosswhite (2004) and Flemming (2004), among others.

Pure temporal dispersion for aberration free ultrafast time-stretch applications [PDF]
Photonic time-stretch overcomes the speed limitation of conventional digitizers, and enables the observation of non-repetitive and statistically rare phenomena that occur on short timescales. In most of the time-stretch applications, large temporal dispersion is highly desired to satisfy the far-field diffraction regime.
