Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The effects of unburned-gas temperature on intrinsic instability of premixed flames at high Lewis numbers under the adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2017
We treated numerically premixed flames at high Lewis numbers under the adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions to elucidate the effects of unburned-gas temperature on intrinsic instability.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Nonlocal Interactions and Dispersion Relations [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1959
When the microscopic causality is not satisfied, the usual physical meaning to the dispersion relations proposed by Oehme can not be given. The problems of ghosts seem to be closely connected with the propagation characters in the cases of nonlocal interactions. (auth)

Influence of Homo- and Hetero-Junctions on the Propagation Characteristics of Radially Propagated Cylindrical Surface Acoustic Waves in a Piezoelectric Semiconductor Semi-Infinite Medium

open access: yesMathematics
This paper theoretically investigates the influence of homo- and hetero-junctions on the propagation characteristics of radially propagated cylindrical surface acoustic waves in a piezoelectric semiconductor semi-infinite medium.

SOCIAL EQUIVALENT OF FREE ENERGY [PDF]

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Description of Complex Systems, 2004
Characterisation of unbounded resources of a social system within the sociological interpretation has resulted in a large number of different notions, which are relevant in different situations. From the view point of statistical mechanics, these notions

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A Parametric Study of Locally Generated Magnetosonic Waves by Ring‐Beam Hot Protons in the Martian Heavy Ion‐Rich Environment

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
Magnetosonic (MS) waves with frequencies above the proton gyrofrequency can be locally generated by ring‐beam protons in the Martian heavy ion‐rich ionosphere.
