WDM soliton transmission system using dispersion slope compensators
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1999A new scheme of dispersion slope compensator by writing Bragg gratings at different positions in a dispersion compensation fiber is proposed for the wavelength division multiplexing soliton transmission system. This scheme can compensate in-line for the accumulated dispersion of each channel and suppress the dispersive waves which are caused by the ...

Horizontal 2D fully dispersive nonlinear mild slope equations
Ocean Engineering, 2017Abstract A set of horizontal 2D fully dispersive wave equations with fourth order nonlinearity for mild slope bottom is developed. The equations are of integral-differential type, formulated by using a Fourier integral to express the velocity potential and by applying the relation between horizontal and vertical flow velocities on still water level ...

Dispersion Slope Compensation with Co-directional Optical Couplers
Integrated Photonics Research, 2002Dispersion slope compensation with co-directional coupler is numerically demonstrated. The profile of the coupling coefficient is obtained by an inverse scattering technique for the coupled mode equations. A third order dispersion in the phase response of the coupler for dispersion slope compensation is obtained.

A novel method to compensate dispersion and dispersion slope at the same time by using fiber Bragg grating written on the tapered core fiber has been presented. The fabrication method about this kind of tapered core fiber has been realized by precisely controlling the fiber's diameter during the process which is drawing the preform into optical fiber ...

Fiber Bragg grating fabrication for dispersion slope compensation
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1996Group-delay dispersion slope causes signal deterioration in long-distance high-data-rate communication systems. We report the fabrication of high-quality apodized and chirped fiber gratings with dispersion slopes as high as -1800 ps/nm/sup -2/ over a 0.7-mn bandwidth-sufficient to compensate for the dispersion slope of >25000-km length of standard ...

Measurement of chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope of fiber using a supercontinuum source
SPIE Proceedings, 2013A spectral interferomeric technique to measure the chromatic dispersion, the zero-dispersion wavelength and the dispersion slope of a highly nonlinear suspended-core fiber is presented. This method utilizes an experimental configuration with a supercontinuum source in combination with a dispersion balanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer.

Impact of fiber dispersion slope in transmission systems
OFC '98. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest. Conference Edition. 1998 OSA Technical Digest Series Vol.2 (IEEE Cat. No.98CH36177), 2002Summary form only given. Dispersion slope of the transmission fiber is becoming a major constraint in large-capacity long-haul lightwave transmission systems where the WDM signal-bandwidth is large or the channel bit rate is extremely high. Possible technologies to overcome this issue are discussed.

Fecal coliform dispersal by rain splash on slopes
Agricultural and Forest Meteorology, 2008Abstract The movement of fecal pathogens from land to surface and ground water are of great interest because of the public health implications. Non-structural best management practices that control the timing, volume, and placement of animal manures are commonly used to limit opportunities for fecal pathogens to enter water bodies.
