Hole-assisted lightguide fibers with small negative dispersion and low dispersion slope

Applied Optics, 2008
A nonzero dispersion shifted fiber design based on hole-assisted lightguide fiber is presented. The proposed fiber has low dispersion slope around -0.01 ps/nm(2)-km and small negative dispersion values over the wavelength range from 1530 to 1620 nm. It can be used as a transmission medium for a long-haul dense wavelength-division-multiplexed system.

Non-zero dispersion shifted fiber with low dispersion slope

Fifth Asia-Pacific Conference on ... and Fourth Optoelectronics and Communications Conference on Communications,, 1999
A new non-zero-dispersion-shifted fiber design is presented. These fibers, with low dispersion slope of 0.03 ps/nm/sup 2/-km and small negative dispersion from 1530 to 1620 nm, are ideal transmission medium for use in broad band DWDM systems.

The Multi-channel Dispersion and Dispersion Slope Compensation by the SNLCFBG

2009 International Conference on Networking and Digital Society, 2009
In the paper, we investigate the reflect spectrum and time delay of SNLCFBG by means of the numerical simulation which be used to compensated dispersion and dispersion slope. The counting method of multi-channel numbers about SNLCFBG is proposed using the sampled rate of the NLCFBG.

Fiber Bragg gratings for pure dispersion-slope compensation

Optics Letters, 2003
Single-fiber Bragg gratings designed to compensate for pure third-order dispersion are demonstrated. The devices are designed by use of a layer-peeling inverse-scattering technique and exhibit dispersion profiles across their reflection bandwidths of -20, +/- 40, and -225 ps/nm2 over bandwidths of 4.5, 6, and 3 nm, respectively.

Measurement of chromatic dispersion and dispersion slope of fiber using a supercontinuum source

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
A spectral interferomeric technique to measure the chromatic dispersion, the zero-dispersion wavelength and the dispersion slope of a highly nonlinear suspended-core fiber is presented. This method utilizes an experimental configuration with a supercontinuum source in combination with a dispersion balanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer.

FWM resonances in dispersion slope-matched and nonzero-dispersion fiber maps

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2002
We show that four-wave mixing (FWM) resonances can affect performance of selected channels within the dense wavelength-division-multiplexing band. The FWM resonances may cause a Q-factor penalty in excess of 1 dB. We develop an analytical model to predict the spectral location and the intensity of the resonances.

The effects of sloping terrain on dense gas dispersion

Journal of Loss Prevention in the Process Industries, 1990
Abstract Although many well-validated models exist for the prediction of dense gas dispersion, in most cases these have been developed for idealized flat terrain conditions. When applying such models to safety case studies, care must be exercised to ensure that the results are realistic even for non-idealized situations.

Dispersion over the Hebridean and Shetland shelves and slopes

Continental Shelf Research, 1999
Abstract Drifters have been deployed during the summer and winter seasons over the Hebrides slope and tracked for up to 240 days. The tracks vividly illustrate the variable diffusion processes near the shelf break. Currents were 0.1–0.3 m s -1 in the slope current (the lower value in the summer), cross slope flow was inhibited and dispersion was ...

Long-haul soliton WDM transmission with periodic dispersion compensation and dispersion slope compensation

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 1998
A 20 Gb/s-based soliton wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission experiments using periodic dispersion compensation and dispersion slope compensation were demonstrated. Accumulated dispersion slope was compensated with two methods. The first method was periodical individual dispersion compensation.

New dispersion compensating module for compensation of dispersion and dispersion slope of non-zero dispersion fibres in the C-band

OFC 2001. Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibit. Technical Digest Postconference Edition (IEEE Cat. 01CH37171), 2001
A new single mode dispersion compensating module with very low insertion loss and PMD for C-band compensation of TrueWave-RS/sup TM/ (TWRS/sup TM/) is presented. We show experimentally that the C-band link residual dispersion varies only 0.04 ps/(nm/spl middot/km).
