Study on Fire Smoke Distribution Characteristics in Mountain Spiral Highway Tunnels

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In previous studies on tunnel fires, researchers primarily focus on the impact of a single factor on smoke dispersion characteristics in tunnels, neglecting the combined effects of multiple influencing factors and their mutual interactions.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Influence of Bed Variations on Linear Wave Propagation beyond the Mild Slope Condition

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
As water waves travel from deep to shallow waters, they experience increased nonlinearity and decreased dispersion due to the reduced water depth.

Large-Temporal-Numerical-Aperture Parametric Spectro-Temporal Analyzer Based on Silicon Waveguide

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
The parametric spectro-temporal analyzer (PASTA) system has been demonstrated as a flexible tool in single-shot spectrum measurements, especially for ultrafast non repetitive phenomena with arbitrary waveforms.

Accurate Depth Inversion Method for Coastal Bathymetry: Introduction of Water Wave HighOrder Dispersion Relation

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
This paper proposes a wave model for the depth inversion of sea bathymetry based on a new highorder dispersion relation which is more suitable for intermediate water depth. The core of this model, a highorder dispersion relation is derived in this paper.

Dispersion of subsurface lagrangian drifters in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
The dispersion of subsurface Lagrangian floats by eddies was observed directly in DeSoto Canyon, located in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Key elements of dispersion include the capture and release of floats by variations in eddy structure and ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Single Feature Extraction Method of Bearing Fault Signals Based on Slope Entropy

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2022
As an entropy representing the complexity of sequence, slope entropy (SloE) is applied to feature extraction of bearing signal for the first time. With the advantage of slope entropy in feature extraction, the effectiveness of bearing fault signal ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
